Background / History

Wan Ying attended the auction with his younger brother Wan Yan, where he took interest in the captured S-rank Omega Bian He. Although he initially refused Wan Yan’s request for money, he later ordered him to redeem Bian He and send him upstairs. The purchase cost more than twenty million gold coins. 1 3

He initially treated Bian He as property and a source of amusement: he confined him in an iron cage, tested his obedience, and described the relationship as one in which Bian He would be an obedient pet kept at his side. 2 4 Frustrated by Bian He’s extreme compliance, Wan Ying abandoned him by the roadside after Bian He bit his finger. 6

Wan Ying’s attitude began changing after he regretted abandoning Bian He and later found him severely injured outside a bar. He brought Bian He home, tended his wounds, and promised that he would not leave him behind again as long as Bian He remained loyal. 12 15 17

Personality

Wan Ying is cold, sharp-tongued, territorial, and quick to resort to intimidation when provoked. He guards his personal space fiercely, as shown when he threatened the Tribe’s executive officer for entering the room he had been assigned. 10 He also refuses to accept accusations without evidence and invokes legal procedure to silence baseless claims. 14 15

Despite his harshness, he is highly conscientious in work involving law and his subordinates. He studies legal texts obsessively, teaches legal education classes, lends a colleague money without hesitation, and takes responsibility for directing his team. 10 11 49

His relationship with Bian He exposes both his capacity for care and his possessiveness. Wan Ying treats Bian He’s injuries, buys medicine and food for him, and repeatedly reassures him that he will not be abandoned. At the same time, he reacts jealously to other Alphas’ attention and insists that Bian He belong only to him. 17 22 31

Reclaiming Bian He

After Wan Yan alerts him that Bian He is injured at a bar, Wan Ying retrieves him and gradually assumes responsibility for his care. He tends Bian He’s wounds, promises not to abandon him again, and begins bringing him into his personal and professional life. 15 17 18 27

Training Assignment and Executive Rivalry

During a training assignment at a Tribe, Wan Ying stays in the executive officer’s room, studies the officer’s law book, and fights with the returning occupant. He later learns from the Tribe’s members that the executive is respected for protecting subordinates and taking danger upon himself. 10 12

Supply Mission

Wan Ying joins a mission to retrieve supplies, where he encounters the executive officer again. After both fall into a poisoned pit, the executive officer protects Wan Ying during the fall, while Wan Ying refuses to leave him injured below and helps him escape. 32 35

Identity Suspicions and Pheromone Rampage

Wan Ying grows suspicious after his subordinates encounter an Enigma who resembles Bian He. Bian He explains that he used a pheromone-releasing bracelet to deceive them, but Wan Ying remains uneasy about what Bian He may be hiding. 47 48 Soon afterward, Wan Ying is poisoned and driven into a pheromone-induced rampage, leaving Bian He to subdue and protect him. 49 50
