Background / History

Ancient origins and decline

The Xiao Household originated from the Xiao Clan, formerly one of the Eight Great Ancient Clans. Its present members have lost the Dou Emperor Bloodline, and most know little of the clan's ancient history. 68

Its surviving records reveal a suspicious pattern: for nearly a thousand years, every ancestor who reached the Dou Emperor realm or above died through an “accident,” assassination, poisoning, conflict, or other unnatural cause rather than old age. Xiao Lin regards this pattern as evidence that the household's decline was not natural. 69

The household retained the Tou She Ancient God Jade, its greatest surviving symbol of former glory. The jade blocks perception and can only be located through direct visual searching, helping explain why it remained hidden for centuries. 193

Rise in the Jia Ma Imperial Capital

After Xiao Lin exposed Grand Marshal Mo Ya's treason, the Jia Ma Royal House rewarded the household with gold, cultivation methods, battle techniques, and medicinal pills. The rewards substantially strengthened its foundations. 26

The Xiao, Nalan, and Mu households then divided the Intel Lineage's cultivation methods, battle techniques, medicinal pills, businesses, shops, and properties with the Royal House's tacit approval. 26 When Xiao Lin publicly advanced to the Battle King realm a year later, the Xiao Household became a Battle King family of the Imperial Capital. 26

The household subsequently established businesses and stationed clansmen in multiple cities, including Wutan City. Its arrival raised Wutan City from a second-tier city to a first-tier city due to the influence of a Battle King family. 27

Consolidation under Xiao Lin

The household sent eleven members to the Secret Realm expedition under Xiao Lin; three Da Dou Shi members were lost. Survivors received rewards, while the families of the deceased received compensation. 61 65

Xiao Lin later gave Clan Chief Xiao Dongcheng resources taken from Ying Changkong's Storage Ring, valued at roughly five or six times the household's then-current foundation. 65

Xiao Lin formally succeeded Xiao Dongcheng as Clan Chief following the household's coming-of-age ceremony. 187 One month later, he led clansmen in eliminating the Li and Wang households, which had spread rumors of his death and provoked the Xiao Household during his absence. 192

After Xiao Dongcheng's death, Xiao Lin acted on the former chief's final advice by ending reckless expansion, suppressing renewed corruption and abuse within the household, and returning it to low-key development. 232
