Ch. 201Super Shinra Tensei

Nagato concentrated his power on the Deva Path and unleashed an enormous Shinra Tensei over Kumogakure. The repulsive force struck the village, leaving the fate of its people unresolved.

  • The Deva Path rejected Mabui’s explanation and flew above Kumogakure while Hidden Cloud Village ninja tried to stop him.
  • The Animal Path summoned the other Paths away from the fighting, and they collapsed when Nagato stopped supplying their Chakra.
  • Nagato told Konan he would crush Kumogakure’s will to resist, despite the strain the technique placed on his body.
  • The Deva Path spread his arms above the village and declared that the world would feel pain.
  • The Deva Path used an enormous Shinra Tensei, and its expanding repulsive force enveloped Kumogakure.

Ch. 202Double Tailed Beasts

The Super Shinra Tensei destroyed Kumogakure and severely wounded Yugito Nii and Killer B’s Eight-Tails. As the Eight-Tails charged the Deva Path, the other Paths of Pain regrouped and prepared to face it.

  • The Super Shinra Tensei crushed the Two-Tails’ mountain hideout and hurled Matatabi out of Kumogakure, leaving Yugito Nii unconscious and badly injured.
  • Killer B transformed into the Eight-Tails, but the repulsive force tore off two tentacles, wounded it heavily, and drove it through the surrounding mountains.
  • Kumogakure was left in ruins, and the wounded Eight-Tails charged into the crater toward the Deva Path.
  • The Asura Path threw the Animal Path back into Kumogakure, where she summoned the Preta Path, Human Path, Asura Path, and Naraka Path beside the Deva Path.
  • The Eight-Tails raised its fist and smashed it down at the Six Paths of Pain.

Ch. 203Ended

The Six Paths of Pain battled the Eight-Tails until the Deva Path recovered his ability and trapped it with Chibaku Tensei. The Preta Path found the unconscious Yugito Nii, and Nagato confirmed to Konan that the fight was over.

  • The Eight-Tails overwhelmed the Paths of Pain, repeatedly damaging the Asura Path and driving back the others.
  • The Preta Path absorbed the Eight-Tails' Tailed Beast Bomb to protect the Deva Path.
  • The Eight-Tails grew weaker as the Naraka Path repaired the Asura Path through the King of Hell.
  • The Deva Path used Chibaku Tensei to pull the Eight-Tails into a massive sphere of rock above Kumogakure.
  • The Preta Path found Yugito Nii unconscious in the rubble and carried her away.
  • Nagato, exhausted from controlling the Six Paths of Pain, told Konan that the battle was over.

Ch. 204Tenseigan

Obito attacked Nagato and took one of his Rinnegan, and Nagato died after entrusting his remaining eye and Akatsuki’s future to Chiya. As Chiya and Konan left the cave, the remaining Rinnegan reacted with the power in Chiya’s palm, possibly beginning a transformation into a Tenseigan.

  • Obito appeared in the cave and gouged out Nagato’s left eye, but Konan’s attack forced him to phase away.
  • Nagato entrusted his remaining Rinnegan and Akatsuki’s future to Chiya, asked him to protect Konan, and died.
  • Konan accepted Chiya as Akatsuki’s leader, and Chiya removed Nagato’s remaining Rinnegan.
  • Konan covered Nagato’s body in paper and left the cave with Chiya to return to Rain Village.
  • Chiya noticed the Rinnegan reacting to the Ōtsutsuki Chakra and Byakugan power in his palm, and wondered if they were forming a Tenseigan.

Ch. 205Enemy of the Shinobi World

After Chiya helped Akatsuki escape and held the Kage at the summit, the remaining villages went on alert as the Five Kage Summit fell apart. Naruto woke after his defeat, learned the Nine-Tails’ other half was sealed with Minato in the Shinigami, and set out to find a way to revive the dead.

  • The Raikage left to return to Hidden Cloud, while Ōnoki, Gaara, and Mei Terumi ordered their villages to prepare for war and followed toward Hidden Cloud.
  • Mifune watched the Kage depart and lamented that the summit had failed, with Konoha’s Hokage dead and only four Kage remaining.
  • Naruto woke in the forest, realized Deidara had taken the Seven-Tails jinchuriki, and admitted that he was still too weak to stop Chiya.
  • The Nine-Tails told Naruto that its other half had been sealed inside Minato and swallowed by the Shinigami through the Dead Demon Consuming Seal.
  • Naruto decided to find a way to bring the dead back so he could see Minato and Jiraiya, then left the forest without returning to Konoha or Mount Myoboku.

Ch. 206Demonic Statue of the Outer Path

Obito transplanted Nagato’s Rinnegan, summoned the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path, and began sealing the captured jinchuriki. Chiya and Konan found the statue gone and decided to find Black Zetsu to learn where Obito had taken it.

  • Obito summoned the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path and learned that Nagato, along with Akatsuki, was no longer necessary to his plan.
  • White Zetsu brought the unconscious Yugito Nii and Killer B to Obito, while Deidara arrived with the captured Fū.
  • Obito confronted Deidara, who accepted that they should seal the jinchuriki, and White Zetsu reported that Kakuzu was dead, Hidan was dismembered, Kisame was on his way, and Zetsu was missing.
  • Obito chose to seal Yugito Nii first, and the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path began extracting the Two-Tails.
  • Chiya and Konan found the underground cave empty and confirmed that Obito had summoned away the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path.
  • Chiya told Konan they would find Black Zetsu, who might know where Obito had hidden the statue.

Ch. 207You're the Best

Konan urged Chiya to secure the remaining Rinnegan, and Chiya decided to transplant it into his right palm rather than replace either of his eyes. He asked Kaguya to help, and she examined his Hashirama-cell-enhanced arm and warned that the transplant could make the cells lose control.

  • Konan suggested transplanting the Rinnegan because Black Zetsu was too difficult to find and Obito had already taken the other eye.
  • Chiya returned to Amegakure with Konan and decided to put the Rinnegan in his right palm, reasoning that Danzo's transplanted Sharingan showed that dōjutsu could function outside their sockets.
  • Konan brought Chiya to a medical room beneath the tower, where he called Kaguya into his mental space for help.
  • Chiya persuaded Kaguya to assist, and she used her Byakugan to inspect his Hashirama-cell-enhanced arm.
  • Kaguya said his arm could withstand a stronger power but warned the Rinnegan might cause the Hashirama Cells to lose control.

Ch. 208Implantation Successful

Chiya implanted Madara Uchiha’s Rinnegan into his right palm, using his Chakra and Kaguya’s help to control it and the Hashirama Cells. He survived the procedure and returned to his room to recover, though he still needed time to adapt to the eye.

  • Chiya prepared for the implantation, cut open his palm, and placed the Rinnegan inside it.
  • The Rinnegan and Hashirama Cells erupted out of control, tearing apart Chiya’s arm as he tried to contain them.
  • Kaguya sent Chakra through their connection, allowing Chiya to suppress both forces and complete the implantation.
  • Chiya tested the Rinnegan in his palm, then showed it to Konan when he emerged from the medical room near dawn.
  • Chiya told Konan he needed to rest, returned to his room, and slept for an entire day.

Ch. 209Giant Pit

The Raikage and the other Kage discovered that Akatsuki had destroyed Kumogakure and taken Yugito Nii and Killer B, bringing Akatsuki’s total to eight captured Tailed Beasts. They agreed to invite every nation to a conference in the Iron Country to share intelligence and discuss forming the Allied Shinobi Forces, while Konoha’s leadership remained uncertain because its Hokage was dead.

  • The Raikage, Ōnoki, Gaara, and Mei Terumi surveyed Kumogakure’s enormous crater and learned that six attackers with the Rinnegan had destroyed the village.
  • A wounded Cloud shinobi reported that Yugito Nii and Killer B had entered Tailed Beast forms to block the attack, while Mabui, Yugito Nii, and Killer B remained missing.
  • The Raikage searched the ruins until nightfall, then confirmed that Yugito Nii and Killer B had been taken by Akatsuki.
  • The Raikage proposed reconvening the summit, and Gaara, Ōnoki, and Mei Terumi agreed to invite every nation to the Iron Country.
  • The four Kage drafted a covenant inviting the nations to share Akatsuki intelligence and discuss forming the Allied Shinobi Forces at a Shinobi World Joint Conference.
  • When a Cloud shinobi asked who should receive the covenant in the Land of Fire because Konoha’s Hokage was dead, the Raikage told him to deliver it to the daimyo.

Ch. 210New God

After waking from the Rinnegan transplant, Chiya learned that the Allied Shinobi Forces were mobilizing and Rain Village risked becoming their first target. He chose to remain in Nagato’s place and protect the village while preparing to find Obito and reclaim the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path.

  • Chiya woke to find the wounds from his Rinnegan transplant healing, though the eye in his palm continued consuming his chakra.
  • Konan showed Chiya the alliance document and intelligence reports, revealing the nations’ preparations and the danger to Rain Village.
  • Chiya ordered Konan to abandon compromised Akatsuki contacts, establish new ones, and keep Nagato’s death secret by saying Pain was away on a mission.
  • Chiya told Konan he would find Obito before the Allied Shinobi Forces attacked Rain Village.
  • Chiya sat at Nagato’s lookout, told Kaguya he would stay because Nagato had entrusted him with the village, and was mistaken by a passing Rain shinobi for Pain.

Ch. 211The Sixth Hokage

After Danzo's death and Sasuke's attack left Konoha in turmoil, the Land of Fire's daimyo sought a new Hokage before the nations gathered to discuss Akatsuki and the Allied Shinobi Forces. Tsunade accepted the call to become the Sixth Hokage and prepare to represent Konoha.

  • Konoha struggled to restore order after Danzo's death, Sasuke's attack, and the exposure of documents about Danzo and Root.
  • The daimyo convened a Hokage selection meeting after learning Akatsuki had destroyed Kumogakure and taken the Two-Tails and Eight-Tails.
  • Koharu proposed Kakashi, but Shikaku argued that his recent release from prison made him an unsuitable immediate choice.
  • Shikaku proposed Tsunade, and the daimyo sent her the Hokage selection document and the summons to the Shinobi World Joint Conference.
  • After reviewing the report on Kumogakure and seeing the wounded in Konoha's temporary hospital, Tsunade told Shizune to prepare her things.

Ch. 212Endure a Little Longer

Black Zetsu watched Chiya endure the rain outside Amegakure, then brought Obito Orochimaru’s research on Impure World Reincarnation. As Obito continued sealing the Seven-Tails, Black Zetsu demonstrated the technique and was ordered to prepare reincarnated shinobi for battle.

  • Black Zetsu observed Chiya sitting in the rain outside Amegakure and told him to endure a little longer before disappearing.
  • Obito, Deidara, and Kisame continued sealing the Seven-Tails while Killer B remained restrained in the cave.
  • Black Zetsu arrived with Orochimaru’s research and bodily tissues from deceased shinobi, revealing his incomplete work on Impure World Reincarnation.
  • Black Zetsu used a White Zetsu as a sacrifice to revive a dead shinobi and control him with a talisman.
  • Obito ordered Black Zetsu to perfect the technique and prepare the first batch of reincarnated shinobi before the Seven-Tails’ sealing was complete.

Ch. 213I Alone Am Enough

The Five Kage established the Shinobi World Alliance and chose Amegakure as the Allied Shinobi Forces’ first target. When Konan warned Chiya that the alliance would attack in ten days, he decided to face it alone while she remained to protect Amegakure.

  • At the conference, a small-country leader questioned the Raikage’s place among the Five Kage, and the Raikage threatened him before Mifune restored order.
  • The Five Kage established the Shinobi World Alliance, appointed Ōnoki commander-in-chief, and agreed to attack Amegakure in ten days.
  • After the conference, the nations began mobilizing their shinobi and supplies while Iron Country coordinated intelligence and orders.
  • Konan told Chiya that the Allied Shinobi Forces would attack Amegakure, and Chiya explained that they would not believe the truth about Nagato and the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path.
  • Chiya told Konan he would face the Allied Shinobi Forces alone and ordered her to stay in Amegakure to protect the village.

Ch. 214Three Bodies

Chiya faced the Allied Shinobi Forces at the Rain Country border and denied having Pain, the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path, or the captured Tailed Beasts. He unleashed his Perfect Susanoo and two enormous Sage Art constructs to stop the attack, leaving the allied forces surrounded and unable to cross.

  • The Raikage demanded that Chiya hand over Pain, the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path, and the captured Tailed Beasts, but Chiya said they had been taken by a masked Uchiha.
  • Chiya challenged the Allied Shinobi Forces and manifested a Perfect Susanoo that cut distant mountain peaks apart with a single slash.
  • Ōnoki ordered the Five Kage to restrain Chiya while the rest of the allied forces advanced into the Rain Country from both sides.
  • Gaara, Mei Terumi, Tsunade, the Raikage, and Ōnoki attacked the Susanoo, but Chiya repelled them and the Five Kage could not break through.
  • Chiya used Sage Art, Earth Release, Wild God's Great Rock Seat to crush the allied forces' left wing and Sage Art, Wood Release, True Several Thousand Hands to block the right wing.

Ch. 215How Are We Supposed to Fight This?

The Allied Shinobi Forces attacked Chiya’s three giant constructs, using coordinated strikes to restrain his Perfect Susanoo while Gaara, Mei Terumi, and the Raikage created openings. The chapter ended as Ōnoki’s Dust Release engulfed the Susanoo and Chiya, with Tsunade secretly supplying him chakra.

  • Ōnoki rallied the Allied Shinobi Forces and ordered them to focus on Wild God's Great Rock Seat, while Gaara restrained the stone giant and the shinobi attacked it with ninjutsu.
  • The alliance launched long-range attacks against True Several Thousand Hands, but the wooden Buddha regenerated its branches and remained unmoved.
  • Gaara, Mei Terumi, and the Raikage coordinated attacks that trapped and damaged the Perfect Susanoo, though Chiya’s blade broke through their restraints and struck the alliance.
  • The Raikage charged the Susanoo again while Ōnoki positioned himself above it and Tsunade secretly transferred chakra to him.
  • Ōnoki used Dust Release: Detachment of the Primitive World Technique to engulf the Perfect Susanoo and Chiya in a massive barrier of light.

Ch. 216Absorption

Chiya absorbed Ōnoki’s Dust Release with the Rinnegan in his palm, ending the Allied Shinobi Forces’ attack and leaving both sides at a stalemate outside Amegakure. After Tsunade asked about the enemies beyond the Shinobi World, Chiya began explaining the Ōtsutsuki Clan and the fate they brought to other worlds.

  • Ōnoki’s Dust Release appeared to destroy Chiya’s Susanoo, but Chiya remained unharmed and absorbed the technique with his Rinnegan.
  • Chiya told the Allied Shinobi Forces that Nagato had given him the Rinnegan before he died, but Ōnoki remained skeptical.
  • Ōnoki ordered the Allied Shinobi Forces to stop attacking, and Chiya landed on the True Several Thousand Hands while blocking the way to Amegakure.
  • The Raikage demanded entry to Amegakure, but neither side advanced, and Tsunade asked Chiya to explain the dangerous enemies he had mentioned at the Five Kage Summit.
  • Chiya said the Ōtsutsuki Clan traveled between dimensions, planted God Trees to consume worlds’ Chakra and life, and destroyed those worlds when the fruit ripened.

Ch. 217The Only God

Chiya explained that he would keep the Tailed Beasts and concentrate all power under his control to prevent war and face enemies beyond the Shinobi World. He declared himself the world’s only god, but an unexpected voice challenged him.

  • Tsunade confronted Chiya for concealing his plans and betraying the trust of Mei Terumi and Gaara, while admitting she understood why he had acted alone.
  • Chiya said he would still collect the Tailed Beasts even if he could start over, and refused to return them after the outside threat was defeated.
  • Chiya argued that divided power and the Five Great Nations perpetuated war, and declared that no nation would be allowed to start a war without his permission.
  • Chiya admitted he wanted every nation to submit to him and said no one would restrain him because gods did not make mistakes.
  • Chiya proclaimed himself the Shinobi World’s only god, and an unknown voice beside him questioned the title.

Ch. 218The Only God?

Naruto confronted Chiya over his plan to impose peace as the world's only god, then shared the Nine-Tails' chakra with the Allied Shinobi Forces to give them power to resist. As Chiya faced the newly strengthened army, a cold voice came from beyond the battlefield.

  • Naruto appeared beside Chiya and challenged him, arguing that ruling through fear would make him a tyrant.
  • Naruto said he wanted power to belong to everyone, though he had not yet found a complete way to make it equal.
  • Naruto spread the Nine-Tails' chakra across the battlefield, restoring the allied shinobi's strength and giving them chakra cloaks.
  • Tsunade, Ōnoki, and Gaara realized Naruto had shared the Nine-Tails' power with everyone.
  • Naruto asked Chiya what he would do when violence could no longer solve everything, and a cold voice spoke from beyond the battlefield.

Ch. 219Under the Sun

Sasuke confronted Naruto and Chiya over who should control power, proposing a single country where decisions were public and made by vote, backed by his own force. As the three presented competing visions for the world, a disturbance in distant space drew Naruto and Chiya’s attention.

  • Sasuke arrived at the battlefield and challenged Naruto’s claim that distributing Nine-Tails Chakra to the Allied Shinobi Forces created equality.
  • Sasuke argued that hidden decisions by daimyo, Kage, and advisers enabled darkness, then proposed merging all countries into one where people would vote on public decisions.
  • Sasuke declared that he would use his power to destroy anyone who tried to conceal decisions or restore the old system.
  • Chiya, Naruto, and Sasuke stood ready with their distinct visions, but none of them attacked.
  • Naruto’s dispersed Nine-Tails Chakra shook, and Chiya’s Rinnegan opened as distant space twisted.

Ch. 220The Fourth Shinobi World War

Obito and Black Zetsu revealed their plan to cast the Infinite Tsukuyomi and seize the Nine-Tails. As White Zetsu and reincarnated dead flooded the battlefield, Chiya, Naruto, and Black Zetsu summoned reinforcements, and Obito declared the Fourth Shinobi World War had begun.

  • Black Zetsu appeared with Obito and denounced Chiya's mercy, while Obito explained his plan to cast the Infinite Tsukuyomi using the Nine-Tails.
  • Kisame, Deidara, and Konan arrived, and the Five Kage joined Naruto to prevent Obito from taking the Nine-Tails.
  • Black Zetsu unleashed an underground army of White Zetsu, prompting Naruto to create Shadow Clones and Chiya to summon Katsuyu to protect Amegakure and the wounded.
  • Black Zetsu summoned countless dead shinobi with Impure World Reincarnation, including a former Kage who greeted Ōnoki.
  • Obito declared that war would decide the world's future and announced the start of the Fourth Shinobi World War.
