Obito began the Fourth Shinobi World War as the White Zetsu army attacked the Allied Shinobi Forces. Gaara and Katsuyu helped stabilize the battlefield, while Chiya remained atop the True Several Thousand Hands and Kaguya asked why he was not fighting.

• Obito declared the start of the Fourth Shinobi World War, and the White Zetsu army charged the Allied Shinobi Forces.

Gaara’s sand pyramid was destroyed from within, releasing the Impure World Reincarnation shinobi and revealing the Third Kazekage, who began fighting Gaara with Iron Sand. Battles spread across the wasteland, Taka headed toward the Five Kage, and Tsunade struggled to coordinate the collapsing Allied Shinobi Forces as lightning flashed behind her.

• Gaara tried to reinforce his sand pyramid, but black spikes pierced it apart and tore through the trapped Impure World Reincarnation shinobi.
• The pyramid collapsed, and the Third Kazekage emerged on Iron Sand and attacked Gaara with black needles.
• Mū fought Ōnoki with Dust Release while Kakashi, Might Guy, Mei Terumi, and the Raikage fought across the chaotic battlefield.

Madara Uchiha appeared on the battlefield and fought Chiya atop True Several Thousand Hands. Chiya used Sage Mode and Sage Art: Fire Release: Calamity Fire Cascade to meet Madara’s flames, then suddenly vanished as the burning wooden construct collapsed.

Chiya used the Rinnegan in his palm to stop Madara’s first meteorite and hurl it into the second, then used Shinra Tensei to divert the falling fragments away from the distant battlefield and Amegakure. The meteorites were destroyed, but the effort drained more than half the Chakra stored in Chiya’s Yin Seal and left his Susanoo close to collapsing.

• Chiya realized he could not let Madara’s meteorites strike the ground and flew upward to meet the first one.
• Chiya opened the Rinnegan in his palm and used Shinra Tensei to stop the first meteorite and push it back into the sky.
