Ch. 61Lava Release: Melting Apparition Technique

Mei Terumi tried to rescue bloodline suspects from Kirishima Jin’s warehouse, but his men trapped her and the civilians inside a massive whirlpool formation. After a disguised attacker stabbed her, she used Lava Release to drive back her assailants, revealing her Kekkei Genkai to Kirishima Jin.

  • Mei Terumi challenged Kirishima Jin’s men over their detention of the bloodline suspects, and they activated a prepared Water Release formation that sealed the courtyard in a towering whirlpool.
  • Mei Terumi’s Water Dragon Bullet failed to break through the vortex while Chiya watched from the courtyard and chose not to intervene.
  • Kirishima Jin arrived and ordered his ninjas to kill everyone, forcing Mei Terumi and Ao to fight while protecting the civilians.
  • A man posing as a rescued civilian stabbed Mei Terumi in the lower back, and she struck him down before returning to defend the crowd.
  • Mei Terumi unleashed Lava Release: Melting Apparition Technique, scattering the attackers and exposing her Kekkei Genkai to Kirishima Jin.

Ch. 62What Are You Standing Around For?

Chiya intervened when Kirishima Jin’s formation trapped Mei Terumi and the civilians, then shattered the water vortex with Sage Art: Wild-Draw Flash. As Mei Terumi and Ao led the civilians toward the opening, Chiya stayed behind to hold off the pursuing ninja.

  • Chiya fought off the pursuing ninja and blocked one from chasing Mei Terumi as Kirishima Jin watched with interest.

Ch. 63Pursuit

Mei Terumi returned to Genji's Residence with rescued civilians and evidence of abuses at Mist Tide Port, prompting Genji to move against the Fourth Mizukage. Yagura ordered Mei arrested and, after finding her gone, declared her a rogue ninja and sent the Pursuit Unit after her.

  • Kirishima Jin withdrew from the ruined warehouse after Chiya's attack, while Mei Terumi escaped with the rescued civilians.
  • Mei Terumi gave Genji the detention lists, and Ao provided account books documenting abuses at Mist Tide Port.
  • Genji decided to take the evidence to the Daimyo and impeach the Fourth Mizukage.
  • Kirishima Jin told Yagura that Mei Terumi had used Lava Release and released suspected Kekkei Genkai offenders, and Yagura ordered her to present herself for judgment.
  • Anbu searched Mei Terumi's empty residence, and Yagura declared her a rogue ninja and ordered the Pursuit Unit to kill her.

Ch. 64Dark Undercurrent

  • Kirishima Jin warned Yagura that Genji posed a threat, gained approval to seal Genji’s Residence, and secretly ordered his followers to prepare for a fight.
  • Survivors from Mist Tide Port gave testimony at Genji’s Residence, while Ao found account records linking Kirishima Jin to unexplained tax payments.
  • Genji finished an impeachment memorial and prepared to take it to the daimyo, instructing Mei Terumi and Ao not to resist a search.
  • Anbu surrounded Genji’s Residence, barred Genji from leaving, and began searching for Mei Terumi and the Mist Tide Port witnesses.
  • Mei Terumi came out to stop the Anbu, Ao fought them, and the guards joined in as chaos engulfed the courtyard.

Ch. 65Sudden Change

  • Mei Terumi challenged Yagura's persecution of Kekkei Genkai users, and Genji blamed the bloodshed on fear and corrupt orders.
  • Kirishima Jin stabbed Yagura, summoned hidden suicide warriors, and announced a plan to blame the attack on Kekkei Genkai clans and foreign enemies.
  • Chiya arrived, rescued Mei Terumi from an attacker, and used Shadow Clones and Sage Chakra to fight Kirishima Jin and his warriors.
  • Kirishima Jin wounded Yagura, failed to defeat Chiya, and escaped by flooding the courtyard with dense mist.

Ch. 66Borrowing Something

Chiya helped Genji’s Residence and the witnesses defeat Kirishima Jin’s suicide fighters, while Ao discovered that Yagura was under a genjutsu. After revealing himself as Chiya Uchiha, he told Genji and the others that he had come to the Land of Water to borrow something.

  • Chiya’s Shadow Clones, Mei Terumi, Ao, the Anbu, and Genji’s guards joined forces to defeat the suicide fighters attacking Genji’s Residence.

  • Genji took Chiya and the others to a nearby teahouse, where he asked why Chiya had come to the Land of Water.
  • Chiya said he had come to the Land of Water to borrow something.

Ch. 67Night of the Bloody Mist

Chiya asked Genji to lend him the Three-Tails, arguing that Kirigakure’s unstable situation made it a calamity rather than a strength. As Kirishima Jin led his forces into the village and seized key routes, Chiya left to stop him after Genji agreed to honor his promise.

  • Chiya asked Genji to lend him the Three-Tails and warned that the Mizukage had been controlled and Kirigakure was on the brink of chaos.
  • Kirishima Jin rallied his forces at Mist Tide Port, falsely blamed Mei Terumi for the Mizukage’s injuries, and ordered his men to seal the harbor and roads.
  • Kirishima Jin’s forces attacked the village entrance, took control of the gates, and imposed martial law as they advanced toward Mizukage Building.
  • A messenger told Genji that Kirishima Jin had entered the village, while Ao said they could only deploy about a dozen chunin because the Anbu and Genji’s Residence forces were unavailable.
  • Mei Terumi offered to confront Kirishima Jin, but Genji refused because of her injuries; Chiya then left to stop him after Genji acknowledged his promise.

Ch. 68Calamity Fire Cascade

Chiya confronted Kirishima Jin’s forces in the streets and used Sage Art: Fire Release: Calamity Fire Cascade to stop their Water Release, but the resulting fog gave Kirishima Jin an advantage. Surrounded by mist clones and unable to locate the real Kirishima Jin, Chiya dodged repeated attacks and narrowly escaped his own reflected fire technique.

  • Chiya blocked Kirishima Jin’s advance toward the Mizukage Building with a warning slash across the street.
  • Several Hidden Mist ninjas combined their Water Release, but Chiya’s Sage Art: Fire Release: Calamity Fire Cascade halted the torrent and filled the street with mist.

  • Kaguya lent Chiya Wind Release Chakra, allowing him to unleash Wild-Draw Flash and destroy Kirishima Jin’s mist and clones.
  • Chiya killed Kirishima Jin with a single slash, and the remaining Hidden Mist ninjas stopped advancing.
  • Kaguya alerted Chiya to sinister Chakra at the Medical Division, where a masked man appeared beside the unconscious Yagura.
  • The masked man’s attacks passed through him, and he seized Ao and began drawing him into a space-time vortex.
  • Chiya arrived and activated High Plain of Heaven, freezing the space around Ao and stopping the vortex.

Ch. 70The Masked Man

Chiya fought Obito Uchiha when he appeared at the Medical Division, but Obito destabilized Yagura’s seal before escaping. Yagura’s seal collapsed, releasing the Three-Tails into the Hidden Mist Village.

  • Obito recognized Chiya and offered to teach him the Uchiha Clan’s power, but Chiya attacked instead.
  • Chiya and Obito exchanged fire techniques, then Obito used Wood Release to attack as Chiya’s Sage Mode ran out.
  • Kaguya helped Chiya absorb natural energy, restoring his Sage Mode so he could block Obito’s kunai.
  • Obito released the tampering within Yagura’s seal, causing the Three-Tails’ chakra to erupt and forcing Mei Terumi and Ao away.
  • Obito escaped as Yagura’s seal collapsed, and the Three-Tails emerged from the Medical Division ruins.

Ch. 71Three-Tails

Chiya used Kaguya’s Chakra and a re-forming Stone Man to defend Kirigakure from the rampaging Three-Tails and its Tailed Beast Bomb. With Kaguya taking control, Chiya began drawing the beast’s Chakra into himself as a diamond-shaped mark appeared on his palm.

  • Chiya ordered Mei Terumi to evacuate Yagura and the nearby villagers while he faced the Three-Tails alone.

Ch. 72Pervert

Chiya met Kaguya in his inner world, where she had recovered and left a Chakra mark on his palm after absorbing much of the Three-Tails' essence. He returned to find the Three-Tails reduced to a tiny turtle, and Mei Terumi chased him after he admitted he had not promised to restore it to its original condition.

  • Chiya visited his inner world and saw that Kaguya had recovered enough to create a furnished space based on his memories.
  • Kaguya told Chiya that she had absorbed more than half of the Three-Tails' Chakra essence and had recovered some of her strength.
  • Kaguya showed Chiya the diamond-shaped Chakra mark on his palm, explaining that it would make absorbing Chakra easier.
  • Chiya returned to the ruins and found the Three-Tails shrunken into a listless little turtle, shocking Mei Terumi, Ao, and the Mist ninja.
  • Chiya told Mei Terumi he had only promised to return the Three-Tails, not restore it, so she chased him while Ao followed and the Three-Tails hid in its shell.

Ch. 73Black Zetsu and White Zetsu

After Yagura died, Mei Terumi became the Fifth Mizukage and began reforming Hidden Mist Village. Chiya left the Land of Water, while Zetsu and the masked man learned that he had absorbed most of the Three-Tails’ Chakra and decided to keep watching him.

  • Medical ninja confirmed Yagura could not be saved, and Genji ordered the Three-Tails sealed in the old chamber while Mei Terumi concealed its condition from the public.
  • Hidden Mist Village purged Kirishima Jin’s followers and freed people imprisoned at Mist Tide Port, exposing the abuses committed under his rule.
  • Genji nominated Mei Terumi as the Fifth Mizukage, and she abolished the persecution of Kekkei Genkai users and many harsh taxes.
  • Chiya departed the Land of Water after Mei Terumi questioned why he absorbed Tailed Beasts, giving only a vague answer about revenge on Konoha.
  • White Zetsu reported to Black Zetsu that Chiya had absorbed most of the Three-Tails’ Chakra, and they informed the masked man.
  • The masked man ordered Zetsu to keep watching Chiya and said they should begin preparations for Akatsuki’s plan ahead of time.

Ch. 74Need to Go Take a Look

Shion woke from a vivid dream of a young swordsman saving her from a demon and ordered her maid to find him. Days later, Chiya found a reward notice bearing his portrait and decided to visit the address listed to learn who was looking for him.

  • Shion dreamed that a young man in white cut down a demon threatening her in the temple, then woke and ordered her maid to find him.
  • Chiya and Kaguya came ashore after several days at sea, and Chiya changed into a clean white haori.
  • Chiya noticed a crowd gathered around a reward notice that had a portrait but no name.
  • Chiya recognized the portrait as himself and realized it showed the clothes he had only just bought.
  • Chiya read the address beneath the portrait and decided to go there to investigate.

Ch. 75Shrine Maiden

Chiya arrived at the shrine after the Shrine Maiden Shion had sought him out, then saved her from attackers in the forest. Shion told him that Moryo threatened the Land of Demons, but Chiya said he did not want to get involved.

  • Chiya followed the notice's address, and a maid identified him as the person Lady Shion had been waiting for.
  • Shion and her guards were ambushed by four men in black as they fled through the forest, and the attackers killed the guards one by one.
  • Chiya dropped Futsu no Mitama before Shion, blasted the attackers away with the shockwave, and drove them to retreat.
  • Shion brought Chiya into the shrine and told him that she had dreamed of him defeating Moryo and of the Land of Demons being destroyed.
  • Shion explained that Moryo could only be sealed, and Chiya said he did not want to get involved in her troubles.

Ch. 76Moryo

Chiya refused Shion’s request for help, but when stone statues invaded the royal city, he fought to protect its people. He shattered a large wave of statues, while more continued approaching and a black-haired youth watched him from the shadows.

  • Chiya rejected Shion’s request to get involved, and Shion said fate would bring him back.
  • A guard reported that stone statues were attacking the city and that no reinforcements were coming, so Shion ordered troops recalled to defend the temple and prepared to seal Moryo at the shrine.
  • Chiya saw the city guards abandon civilians to return to the temple, then intervened when a stone statue threatened a man and child.
  • Chiya used fire techniques and Sage Mode against the statues, but they continued advancing through the city gate.
  • Chiya’s Wild-Draw Flash shattered a wide swath of stone statues outside the gate, while more remained on their way to the city.
  • A black-haired youth watched Chiya from an alley and smiled as he examined the sword and the rubble.

Ch. 77Ashiho

Shion and the shrine guards were ambushed on the mountain path to the Sealing Shrine, while Ashiho acted as her decoy and was killed. Shion pressed on with Ashiho’s talisman to seal Moryo, reaching the shrine as purplish-black mist seeped from it.

  • Ashiho spotted a trap on the mountain path, and black-clad attackers ambushed the group, killing several shrine guards.
  • Shion and the attendant hid while Ashiho, disguised as Shion, led the attackers away with a decoy escort.
  • The attackers killed Ashiho at a cliff and left his body behind, unaware that he had reverted to his true form.

  • Shion and the attendant reached the shrine, where purplish-black mist was pouring out.

Ch. 78Yomi

Shion attempted to seal Moryo, but Yomi attacked and revealed that the ritual would reunite Moryo’s body and soul. Chiya arrived as Moryo revived, and Shion warned that it could only be sealed.

  • Shion began sealing the crack in the shrine wall while the attendant stood guard.
  • Yomi entered the shrine, struck down the attendant, and told Shion that her ritual would fuse Moryo’s body with its soul.
  • The sealing technique drew Moryo’s power into the crack, causing the wall to break apart and Moryo to emerge.
  • Chiya appeared and slashed Moryo, but it regenerated its head; Shion told him that Moryo could only be sealed.
  • Moryo howled as Kaguya’s voice sounded in Chiya’s mind.

Ch. 79Soul Sacrifice

Chiya fought Moryo as it regenerated and grew stronger, while Shion revealed that sealing it required a Shrine Maiden's life force. After a fanatic named Yomi fed Moryo souls from the city, Chiya summoned a Stone Man and then Susanoo to protect Shion and confront the gigantic demon.

  • Shion told Chiya that Moryo could only be sealed with a Shrine Maiden's life force, and she resolved to seal it herself.
  • Chiya fought Moryo with Futsu no Mitama, but it regenerated and absorbed a stream of souls drawn from the distant city.
  • A boy named Yomi blocked Chiya's strike and revealed that he had arranged for the city's souls to become Moryo's sacrifice; Moryo swallowed him and burst out of the shrine.
  • Chiya summoned a Stone Man, but Moryo's chakra took control of it, forcing Chiya to manifest Susanoo and destroy it.
  • Moryo charged at Shion, and Susanoo scooped her up before facing Moryo with its sword.

Ch. 80Thank You

Chiya fought Moryo long enough for Shion to begin sealing it, then supplied her with Chakra so she could complete the seal. After killing the wounded black-haired boy who tried to escape, Chiya comforted Shion as she thanked him and cried in his arms.

  • Chiya used Susanoo and Futsu no Mitama to wound Moryo, while Kaguya's Chakra repaired the damaged skeleton.
  • Shion began sealing Moryo, but its size and resistance overwhelmed her.
  • Chiya dissipated Susanoo and poured Chakra into Shion, enabling her to seal Moryo completely.
  • Chiya killed the wounded black-haired boy when he tried to flee the valley.
  • Shion embraced Chiya and thanked him, and he patted her back and told her it was over.
