Rachel and Kara's hasty high-speed flight caught the military's attention, and several fighter jets were hot on their tail.
Ground radar identified them as being with the aliens invading Metropolis. What proper Earthling could fly? These two who could fly had to be aliens! There was basically nothing wrong with that logic, and as a result, air-raid sirens blared nonstop along the two girls' flight path.
Kara had always been a good girl. Even when lifting a plane, she acted like a thief, keeping her head down and wishing she could hide her face. Today, she had flown out entirely to show off in front of her new friend, coupled with the little competitive streak between girls. She had not thought things through at all when she took off. Now that the alarms on the ground were sounding, she was completely dumbfounded.
She still had to hide her identity and live in the city. She still had to go to work, bring coffee to her boss, and do her job as a reporter! What was she supposed to do now?
"Huh? I only just realized that you people are hostile toward superpowered individuals too? Are you living among ordinary people with your identities hidden? Did I expose you...?" Rachel belatedly noticed the problem.
She felt as though she had done something wrong.
At that point in the future, her name was known to practically everyone at the highest levels, and quite a few ordinary people knew her as well. Even if she wanted to hide, she could not.
Even after coming to this point in time, she had not concealed herself. She had stepped forward openly and confidently. With her biological father backing her, she had never thought she needed to hide her true identity.
Her ingrained way of thinking
