After leaving Nebula's hospital room, Daisy went to visit Captain America.
The Heart of the Universe had returned everything to its starting point, so the power of the Super Soldier Serum had naturally been restored as well. After three days of recuperation, Captain America had gone from a ninety-year-old man back to his peak physical condition.
After offering a few brief words of comfort, she left the room. She had a feeling that Captain America had undergone some subtle changes in his mindset.
According to her best friend Sharon Carter, Captain America's attitude toward her had changed slightly. Their relationship had become strange. The once-intimate couple now seemed to have an unbreakable wall between them.
Outsiders could not interfere in matters of the heart. Daisy guessed that Captain America had remembered Peggy Carter again. Although the old lady was gone, he probably still longed for that dance they had never gotten to have. He had thought about it for an entire lifetime.
Before death came for him, the memories he had buried deep in his heart had surged back to the surface.
"If Captain America runs into trouble, the Avengers will run into trouble too. Should we make some contingency plans?" Only Hill could discuss work when things were relatively emotional.
By rights, her relationship with Captain America was fairly good too. Though she did not worship him as fanatically as Coulson did, Daisy had read some of Hill's diaries and records from her agent training days. Hill had admired Captain America as well, but the Captain America she admired was more like a lofty, flawless saint she had imagined, not the real Steve Rogers.
Hill's thoughts represented those of many American politicians and generals. Everyone liked a patriotic, driven, self-sacrificing Captain America, but they wanted him to be dead.
