But when it came to more advanced applications, she was stumped. She had been a terrible student before, and had long since returned all her science knowledge to the teachers of that unspeakable country. The original Daisy was even worse—every day was Old Testament and New Testament recitations, hymn singing. Church schools might not hate modern physics as much as they hated Darwin, but they offered very few such classes.
Just like how PE classes in that time and space were often taken over, Daisy's memories often contained this familiar scene.
The physics teacher was absent, and the theology teacher would simply push open the classroom door and lead everyone in reading the Bible...
Faced with things that sounded impressive but made no sense, like vibrations, frequencies, transverse waves, and string oscillations, both her former self and current self had been completely baffled.
The knowledge between the "two" of them combined was inferior to that of a diligent middle school student.
Study math, physics, and chemistry well, and you could travel the world without fear. Daisy finally understood the profound meaning hidden in those words.
This poor student could only start learning again.
Fortunately, this was the internet age. As long as she wanted to learn, she could search up all sorts of knowledge, provided it did not involve particularly cutting-edge technological achievements.
How much she could actually learn depended on her own ability.
After briefly looking through various academic theories until her head was a complete mess, Daisy decided to go back and study them carefully later.
She put away her notebook and lay on the bed. Now, she had a problem to face: her genetic defect.
Take Black Bolt, the leader of the Inhumans. He could flatten a city with a single word, and one roar could make Thanos stumble. His defect was his lack of control. To avoid hurting others, he could only pretend to be mute three hundred and sixty-five days a year.
Daisy had realized her own problem. Her vibrations could harm herself as well. Every action had an equal and opposite reaction. When she created vibrations, part of those vibrations would also rebound onto her.
In the original timeline, Daisy's frequent use of her powers had caused minor fractures in her arm bones. She had even reached the point where she needed powerful medicine to treat the damage just to keep using her abilities.
There was no direct comparison, but after running all the way here, Daisy felt that her body was stronger than the one from the original timeline. Perhaps that was the benefit of having the Terrigen Crystal mist all to herself.
Besides, she felt that her control over her powers was more precise than in the original timeline.
That precise control gave her an additional ability. She could sense the vibration frequencies of the people around her.
A scientist named David R. Hawkins had once conducted an experiment. Using his own method, he assigned everything in the world an energy-level range from one to one thousand.
A normal person's value on that scale was two hundred.
When a person was filled with malicious thoughts, indifference, fear, anxiety, and similar emotions, their vibration frequency would decrease.
When a person was optimistic, happy, and peaceful, their vibration frequency would increase.
Meeting a kind and morally noble person made people feel comfortable, while evil had the opposite effect. This view had scientific basis.
That research recorded the person with the highest vibration frequency: Mother Teresa, the woman who won the Nobel Peace Prize. Even if you had no faith, seeing her would make you feel a sense of warmth. From a humanistic perspective, it could be called personal charisma or a spirit of dedication, but in the field of physics, Mother Teresa's vibration frequency far exceeded that of ordinary people.
Daisy could now use this ability to judge the good and evil of those around her, just like red and yellow names in a game...
Precise control had another benefit: it could cancel out a firearm's recoil.
Women were naturally less physically powerful than men, and there was also a gap in wrist and arm strength. Many female agents held guns with both hands because of recoil.
Daisy could now fire as she pleased. Using a little of her Vibration powers to offset recoil placed very little burden on her body, while also serving as training for the precise control of her abilities.
With her already exceptional physical fitness, plus the massive boost in reaction speed, speed, endurance, and powers after her bloodline activation, her marksmanship had improved by leaps and bounds. Hitting every shot while running was difficult, but placing in an amateur shooting competition would not be a problem.
The initial stage placed a heavy burden on her body. She needed to pursue precision and accomplish the most with the least power.
Once her physical condition became strong enough, making the air vibrate and splitting the sea like Whitebeard would not be difficult.
Or once she figured out quantum mechanics, she could do things like Vibe from that neighboring DC universe—opening and severing dimensional passages, touching objects to sense the other party's location. All of that would be possible.
In short, the future was still bright!
The matter in Puerto Rico had come to an end. After keeping up the act for another two days, she boarded a plane once the local police promised that they would notify her immediately if they received any news of her parents.
She had not used either Glock. She sold the guns and ammunition back to the gun shop at a low price. The shop was truly cautious about United States passports, so the buyback price was not too harsh. She earned seven hundred dollars, bringing Daisy's savings back above four digits. In high spirits, she returned to New York.
She had no firearms on her this time, but Daisy's mindset was vastly different when she returned to New York. She had powers now!
She could also unleash short-range shockwaves like she had in the original timeline, but she thought that was a little low-class and rather damaging to the body. Other than looking cool, it had no real advantages.
Faced with streets full of "yellow names," she felt safe from the bottom of her heart.
When she returned to the rented apartment, Black Girl Angela was studying makeup techniques with some fashion magazine.
It had to be said that her former self had truly had good judgment in choosing this Black Girl as her best friend. Standing together, Daisy looked like a fairy by comparison! Was choosing an ugly woman as a best friend every woman's shared choice?
Daisy could not help but sigh.
"Stop putting that on. That color doesn't suit you..." Black Girl was wearing headphones, humming as she applied makeup. She had not even noticed Daisy entering.
"Ah, Daisy! You're back!" Black Girl was very friendly. She tossed aside a brush Daisy could not name and gave her a huge hug.
Black Girl was really dark—not the kind of complexion found among people whose families had lived in the United States for generations. She looked like she had just been captured and brought to the Americas by the Portuguese, naturally dark. Still, she was Daisy's only friend now.
Daisy set down her backpack and patted her shoulder. "Have those people been bullying you these past few days?"
School bullying was unavoidable everywhere. Captain America, Spider-Man, and even Superman and The Flash from next door had all been bullied by children their own age when they were young. The cultural atmosphere here did not oppose school bullying. If anything, it subtly encouraged it.
As minorities, Daisy and Black Girl were natural targets for white children.
Her former self had been fighting white children ever since the orphanage and had plenty of experience. Black Girl, meanwhile, came from an immigrant family and had initially struggled to adapt here. It was Daisy back then who had stepped in to help her, leading to their later friendship.
Daisy could imagine that after she had been gone for half a month, Black Girl must have been bullied again.
However, Black Girl's answer was somewhat unexpected. In a rather serious tone, she said, "No, no. They've all been busy lately. Do you know? Our school is going to close."
