Background / History
Demon Race leadership
Nuwa initially acts primarily as the Demon Race's Sage and protector. She intervenes at Wuyi Mountain to block Tongtian's attack on Taiyi, only to learn that Taiyi had targeted an Interception Sect disciple without informing her. She then rebukes Dijun for concealing the matter. 46
She later attempts to mediate the conflict between the Demon Race and the Three Pure Ones by offering compensation for Taiyi's actions. Lu Xuan challenges her over the future choice between the Demon and Human races; Nuwa refuses to give a direct answer and leaves for Nuwa Palace in anger. 47 50
When Dijun needs the Moon Star to complete the Celestial Star-Dome Formation, Nuwa divines that his union with Xi He and Chang Xi is necessary for the Demon Race's Karmic Fortune. She personally establishes their Heavenly Marriage with the Red Embroidered Ball, binding the Sun and Moon Stars through threads of fate. 54
Break with the Human Race
Although Nuwa created the Human Race, she declines to stop the Demon Race from slaughtering humans for souls used in the Witch-Slaying Sword. She regards the massacre as humanity's tribulation and prioritizes the Demon Race's Karmic Fortune, causing Fuxi to distance himself from her. 69
After the Witch-Demon Calamity breaks Buzhou Mountain and tears a hole in the heavens, Nuwa places Fuxi's remaining true spirit in the Precious Lotus Lamp and repairs the sky using the Heaven-Earth Cauldron and Five-Colored Stones prepared by Primordial Heavenly Venerable. 83 84
The Three Ancestors of the Human Race publicly condemn Nuwa for treating humanity as a means to attain Sagehood. They sever the karmic ties between Nuwa and the Human Race, returning her share of humanity's Karmic Fortune to the race itself. Nuwa retaliates by sending the three ancestors flying before returning to Nuwa Palace. 85
Fuxi's reincarnation and Nuwa's remorse
Nuwa proposes Fuxi as Heavenly Emperor, but Hongjun instead appoints Haotian and Yaochi. 88 When the Human Race is destined to rise through the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors, Nuwa seeks authority over their education but is rejected by the Three Pure Ones because humanity no longer recognizes her as its Holy Mother. 91
As a compromise, Nuwa secures the position of Human Race Heavenly Sovereign for Fuxi. She agrees that he must reincarnate into humanity and sever his former ties to the Demon Race. 91 92 After attaining Sagehood as the Human Race's Heavenly Sovereign, Fuxi chooses to remain in Fire Cloud Cave to safeguard humanity's Karmic Fortune rather than return to Nuwa Palace. 102
At Fire Cloud Cave, Nuwa realizes that neglecting the Human Race cost her any claim to become the future spokesperson of the Human Path. She admits that she saw only the Demon Race's Karmic Fortune and accepts that her loss is the result of her own choices. 103
Nuwa reconciles with Fuxi after promising never again to abandon him for the Demon Race. When Lu Xuan again asks what she would do if humans and demons went to war, she vows not to sacrifice humanity and states that she would willingly reincarnate if it allowed both races to coexist. 103
Atonement through the Human Race
Nuwa begins actively aiding humanity during the era of the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors. She teaches Shennong the art of pottery, allowing human tribes to improve food storage and cooking. 104
Using a creation-aura gourd seed delivered by Houtu, Nuwa identifies Lieshan as the proper candidate for Earth Sovereign. She gives him a Vermilion Whip that identifies poisonous, beneficial, and neutral herbs, then teaches him cultivation methods to endure poison. 105
During Xuanyuan's war against Chi You, Nuwa sends Feng Hou a Five-Colored Divine Stone that conveys military methods and formation diagrams through a dream. She also provides weapon-forging methods to Chen City. 109 She later dispatches the Mysterious Lady of the Nine Heavens to assist Xuanyuan and heals the wounded of both sides after the Battle of Zhuolu, including part of Nüba's corrupted soul. 112
Investiture of the Gods Calamity
Nuwa cooperates with Lu Xuan and Primordial Heavenly Venerable to preserve the spiritual intelligence within the Fire Spirit Pearl. Using the Heaven-Earth Cauldron, she refines the acquired Nine-Sun True-Fire Pearl into an innate vessel capable of carrying that intelligence after reincarnation. 133 134
She reveals that the Fire Spirit Pearl's intelligence came from a clay embryo she once nourished while creating humankind. Nuwa also offers to investigate the vanished Metal Spirit Pearl through the Phoenix Clan. 134
When Lu Xuan exposes Zhunti's plan to use the Three Demons of Xuanyuan Tomb to corrupt Di Xin and destroy Great Shang, Nuwa becomes enraged at the Western Sect's attempt to sacrifice members of the Demon Race. She accepts Lu Xuan's counterplan: the demons will enter the palace under Daji's identity but protect Di Xin and obstruct the Western Sect instead. 150
Nuwa grants the three demons Nuwa Spirit Aura and the Heavenly Demon Breath-Concealing Art, then personally trains them until they rise from Heavenly Immortals to Primordial Unity Golden Immortals. 151 152

Personality
Nuwa is initially defensive of the Demon Race's interests and places its Karmic Fortune above her responsibility toward humanity. When confronted over the Human Race's suffering, she avoids answering directly or responds with anger. 50 69 85
Her relationship with Fuxi and the Human Race gradually forces her to confront those choices. She becomes remorseful rather than defensive, accepts responsibility for having “lost [her] original heart,” and seeks to make amends through practical aid rather than reclaiming her former authority over humanity. 102 103 104
Despite her regret, Nuwa remains fiercely protective of demons under her authority. Her response to Zhunti's plan shows that she will not permit the Demon Race to be used as expendable tools in another sect's scheme. 150 152
