Holding the glass of water, he brought it over to Lu Mingyu.
Lu Mingyu propped himself up halfway and was about to reach for it when the door opened.
A loud, booming voice rang out. "President Lu, I brought you your meal."
The two of them jumped at the sound. Lu Mingyu's raised hand paused, landing right on the back of Song Shi'an's hand.
The glass he had been holding so steadily fell downward in the most melodramatic way possible.
The entire glass of water spilled over Lu Mingyu.
Song Shi'an: "..."
Was he really required to give him a wet-shirt temptation scene?!
Fortunately, it was warm water, so Lu Mingyu was not scalded.
His thin pajamas clung to his body after being soaked through, outlining the muscles of his abdomen.
Song Shi'an scrambled in a panic. "President Lu, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to."
As he spoke, he grabbed some napkins from the side and started wiping Lu Mingyu down.
The more he wiped, the more chaotic it became. The situation was a complete mess.
The chef, who had been carrying the lunchbox, scratched his head awkwardly at the sight. "President Lu, did I come at a bad time?"
"No, no." Song Shi'an quickly spoke up, afraid the chef would leave and make things even more awkward between him and Lu Mingyu alone.
Lu Mingyu grabbed his hand, his voice hoarse. "Stop wiping. I'll go change."
Song Shi'an breathed a sigh of relief and withdrew his hand. "President Lu, have something to eat. I'll head back first."
Without waiting for Lu Mingyu to speak, Song Shi'an dashed for the door at a hundred-meter sprint.
He raced all the way home!
Even after returning home, his heart was still pounding wildly, as if it might leap out of his chest.
He covered his face, feeling utterly hopeless.
What was all this?! Why did he have so many interactions with Lu Mingyu?!
Weren't all these stomach-rubbing and wet-shirt temptation scenes supposed to belong to the female lead?
Song Shi'an raked his fingers through his hair, sighed, and flopped onto the bed.
Early the next morning.
He got up by his body clock, quickly tidied himself up, and went downstairs.
There was a breakfast shop downstairs. He bought a grilled sausage and a meat pie, and while eating with relish, he heard someone behind him say, "Are those things even clean?"
Song Shi'an turned around and met the gaze of Lu Mingyu, dressed impeccably in a suit.
He had nearly forgotten that Lu Mingyu had moved here too. Swallowing the food in his mouth, Song Shi'an smiled. "President Lu, I've been eating this stuff for years. Nothing's happened."
Lu Mingyu looked at the grease stains and grime around the breakfast stall, his brows furrowing tightly enough to crush a fly.
Song Shi'an understood. After all, Lu Mingyu was a CEO born with a golden spoon in his mouth. When had he ever eaten things like this?
With a CEO's delicate stomach, if he dared eat it, his stomach would dare hurt.
Lu Mingyu said nothing, merely took out his phone and tapped it twice.
With a ding, Song Shi'an's phone rang shortly afterward.
He took out his phone and glanced at it. It was from Lu Mingyu, and it was a forwarded video.
The moment he opened it, he heard, "Did you know roadside grilled sausages are actually made from this stuff?! ..."
Weren't these rumor-spreading educational videos the sort of thing bored elders forwarded around?
Even CEOs watched this stuff?
How boring.
After watching it, Song Shi'an finished the grilled sausage in his hand without changing expression.
Before watching it, he ate.
After watching it, he ate with trepidation.
Seeing this, Lu Mingyu said, "Since I'll be living here from now on, someone will prepare breakfast. You can come eat with me."
"President Lu, there's no need to trouble yourself. I'm a rough sort of guy. A couple bites for breakfast are enough." Song Shi'an tossed the wrappers into the trash can.
He was busy getting to work. The more convenient breakfast was, the better. If he had extra time, he would rather sleep a few more minutes.
Lu Mingyu said, "I'll have it delivered to the company. You can eat directly at the office from now on."
Eating on company time?
There was such a good deal?
Song Shi'an immediately switched to a fawning attitude. "Thank you for your kindness, President Lu."
Living with his boss not only saved him food money, but gas money too.
He could ride in his boss's car straight to work.
The two went upstairs together. The moment they entered the office, they saw someone extra on the guest sofa—it was Fu Jingyan.
"What wind blew you here?" Lu Mingyu asked, somewhat surprised.
The moment Fu Jingyan saw him, he pulled a long face, rose from the sofa, and reached out to hug him. "Mingyu, I'm suffering!"
Lu Mingyu pressed a hand against his head and stopped Fu Jingyan from coming closer. "Use your words. Keep your hands to yourself."
Fu Jingyan pursed his lips, looking deeply aggrieved. "After all these years of friendship, is it really this fragile?"
Lu Mingyu walked to the desk and picked up the phone.
Fu Jingyan looked confused. "What are you doing?"
Lu Mingyu said, "Calling security to say there's a lunatic in the office."
Fu Jingyan stepped forward and pressed the phone down, complaining, "Honestly, you can't even take a joke."
"Get to the point. Not everyone is as idle as you." Lu Mingyu put down the phone and returned to his desk.
Fu Jingyan finally behaved himself and sighed. "My old man found me a match."
Lu Mingyu chuckled. "That's a good thing. When you get married, I'll give you a big red envelope."
"Do I look like the marrying type?" Fu Jingyan asked.
Indeed, Fu Jingyan had quite the reputation as a playboy. The rumors about him and women could probably fill an entire day.
Besides, Fu Jingyan had always been wild and unrestrained. Anyone Old Master Fu introduced would certainly come from a powerful and influential family. With that kind of arranged marriage, he would not be able to fool around anymore.
"Grandpa Fu has always been a man of his word. Even if you refuse, it won't matter. He could force the two of you together." Lu Mingyu sounded somewhat gleeful at his misfortune.
Fu Jingyan naturally knew that. The corners of his lips curled upward in a rather smug smile. "So I came up with a reason he couldn't do anything about."
"Let's hear it." Lu Mingyu was curious. Old Master Fu was extremely stubborn, and once he set his mind on something, it was rarely changed.
"I told him I like men. If I married some girl, I'd be letting her down." Fu Jingyan shrugged.
"Didn't your old man get so angry he nearly died?" Lu Mingyu asked with amusement.
Old Master Fu had been in the military when he was young. By the time he retired, he had attained the rank of general, and only afterward did his descendants begin going into business.
He had an old-fashioned, conservative personality.
"He's tough as nails. After I said that, he chased me for at least two miles with a club." Fu Jingyan held up two fingers.
Song Shi'an, who had been listening to their conversation from the side, was utterly shocked.
He remembered this plotline, but the outcome seemed a little different.
That's not right! When Old Master Fu forced Fu Jingyan into marriage, didn't Fu Jingyan say he had already found the love of his life, Tang Ruan, and that he only wanted to marry her in this lifetime?!
Old Master Fu gave up when he learned Fu Jingyan had someone he liked.
Why had it turned into liking men now?! What kind of butchered plot was this?!
After speaking, Fu Jingyan looked at Lu Mingyu again. "I came today to tell you that if you see my old man from now on, take a detour."
Lu Mingyu frowned. "What do you mean?"
Fu Jingyan patted his shoulder and said solemnly, "Because I told the old man that the person I like is you."
