Sabaody Archipelago, Marine Base, Dock No. 1.
To be on the safe side, Sephiroth had the Logistics Department send five coating craftsmen to board the warship with them and head for Fish-Man Island.
After all, the ship needed coating on the way there, and it would need it again on the way back...
Once all fifty-eight Marines, Sephiroth included, had boarded, the logistics personnel released the air from the life bags by the dock. The coating rapidly expanded, becoming an air-filled soap bubble.
As its buoyancy sharply decreased, the entire warship was gradually dragged beneath the azure surface, until it was completely submerged and headed toward the dark depths...
When sailing on the surface, ships mainly relied on wind for propulsion. Once coated and brought underwater, however, they relied on ocean currents instead.
But aside from that, there was actually another method!
If specially trained Sea Kings pulled a ship down into the deep sea, it could reach Fish-Man Island much faster.
And if the Sea Kings pulling the ship were fierce enough, they could prevent other Sea Kings from attacking and sinking it...
Of the ships coated at the Sabaody Archipelago before diving into the deep sea, more than half would sink on the ocean floor.
Aside from poor coating work causing the bubble to rupture during descent and sink the ship, a considerable number were sunk because they were attacked by Sea Kings!
It could be said that every trip to Fish-Man Island was a gamble with one's life. No one knew whether they would end up buried beneath the sea.
The sunlight overhead gradually faded away as the warship passed through the massive roots of the Yarukiman Mangrove and slowly descended...
Schools of fish swiftly swam past the warship. The people aboard even saw several Sea Kings
