Inside a simple wooden cabin in the mountains, Sephiroth, dressed in a white lab coat, lay quietly on the floor. His chest rose and fell rhythmically.
Suddenly!
A vortex abruptly appeared in midair, releasing waves of Black Mist.
A skeletal figure in a black robe, holding a long-handled scythe in its right hand and a ball of soul fire in its left, silently appeared inside the cabin.
"Goddamn it, what rotten luck!
Why the hell were you playing dead when you had nothing better to do?
You got me chewed out by my superior for nothing..."
The scythe-wielding skeleton cursed as it pressed the soul fire in its left hand directly into Sephiroth's body as he lay on the floor.
Once the skeleton had finished, the air collapsed again, sucking its body inside and making it vanish from the cabin.
After a while, Sephiroth, lying on the floor, gave a soft groan. He raised a hand to his forehead, slowly opened his eyes, and stood up.
"Huh!? What just happened...?"
Sephiroth shook his somewhat groggy head and looked around the cabin with a bewildered expression.
"I think I had a dream..."
"Hm!? What did I dream about again!?"
Sephiroth raised his right hand and scratched his head. It felt as though he had remembered something, yet also as though he remembered nothing at all.
After agonizing over it, he simply closed his eyes and used Blood Recall on his own blood, trying to trace back his memories.
Then, the memories of being taken to the underworld's Yellow Springs rapidly surfaced in his mind...
