It was also the only Ultra Beast Xia Yan knew of that possessed an evolutionary stage.
But in truth,
compared to the other Ultra Beasts,
Naganadel was not particularly outstanding.
If all Ultra Beasts were measured by the standards of ordinary Pokémon and converted into base stat totals, most Ultra Beasts had a base stat total of 570, while Naganadel only had 540. That was one of its weaknesses.
Of course,
base stats could not completely determine anything.
There were plenty of Pokémon with low base stats but formidable combat abilities.
What truly made Naganadel special was its Dragon-type attribute and the Dragon-type moves it could learn.
At the very least, it could learn and master top-tier Dragon-type moves such as "Dragon Dance," "Outrage," and "Draco Meteor."
Meanwhile, Guzzlord, another Dragon-type Ultra Beast, could not learn Dragon Dance.
Furthermore, Guzzlord's Dark-type and Dragon-type combination left it four times weak to Fairy-type moves, making that weakness far too obvious.
Adding to that, Guzzlord had been lost in its endless pursuit of food from beginning to end and possessed almost no capacity for independent thought, so it was not an especially great threat.
