Background
Qing Lin was born with both human and Snake-People bloodlines. Her mixed heritage, green scales, and unusual eyes made her a target of constant ridicule in Stone Desert City. After Xiao Ding and Xiao Li disappeared, the Desert Iron Mercenary Group blamed her for bringing bad luck and expelled her; she spent three days homeless before being assaulted by local children and pursued by the Sand Mercenary Group. 37 38
Mu Chen kills Mo Xing and the mercenaries threatening her, then takes Qing Lin in. He feeds her, treats her injuries, buys her new clothes, and tells her not to live according to other people's prejudice. 38
Recognizing both her poor cultivation foundation and exceptional potential, Mu Chen refines Foundation-Building Spirit Liquid for her. Qing Lin initially refuses it because she considers it too precious, but accepts after he insists that strength will keep others from belittling her. 42
Appearance
Qing Lin is a petite girl with an oval face, jade-green eyes, and green hair. At her introduction, her pale-green clothing is filthy and torn from life on the streets; after Mu Chen takes her in, she is dressed in a fitted pale-green dress. 37 38
- Clear emerald-green pupils containing three small jade-green dots. 37
- Green scales visible on her arm, a physical sign of her mixed heritage. 38
- Initially bears bruises on her exposed hands and feet from repeated abuse. 38
- Described as timid and rabbit-like in demeanor despite her striking, doll-like appearance. 38
- Grows substantially during the following year, reaching Mu Chen's chin. 241
Personality
Qing Lin begins as fearful, deeply insecure, and accustomed to making herself seem as little a burden as possible. She asks only for food and a chance to work, and initially believes Mu Chen might hate her because of her Snake-People bloodline. 37 38
Her gratitude toward Mu Chen quickly becomes intense loyalty and dependence. She wants to become strong enough to protect him and regards anyone who harms him as deserving punishment. 42 51 Despite her earlier trauma, she is notably unafraid of corpses when she believes they harmed either herself or Mu Chen. 42
Abilities & Skills
Triple Jade-Green Snake Flower Pupils
Qing Lin possesses the Triple Jade-Green Snake Flower Pupils, an extraordinary physique marked by three green dots in each eye. Its power manifests through soul-related force and can act independently of her control. 38 57
- Releases an invisible force of will that destroys drifting sand and targets enemies at range. 57
- Its gaze causes even Hai Bodong to feel his soul being forcibly drawn from his body. 57
- The pupils can drain Qing Lin's life force and soul power when used beyond her control. 57
- During treatment, the pupils absorb the medicinal essence intended for Qing Lin's soul injury and resist Mu Chen's suppression. 87
- Their uncontrolled suction can draw in another person's Dou Qi and threaten their soul. 87
Dou Qi Cultivation
Although Qing Lin starts with a weak foundation, her cultivation speed becomes remarkable once Mu Chen provides proper resources. 42 45
- Uses Foundation-Building Spirit Liquid by adding a drop to water and absorbing it while soaking. 42
- Advances from the fourth to fifth stage of Dou Qi in roughly half a month. 42 45
- Reaches the seventh stage of Dou Qi after the Seven-Colored Green Spirit Saliva treatment improves her cultivation speed. 92
- Her early training must be moderated because excessive pressure could damage her still-developing physical foundation. 42
Relationships
- Mu Chen — Rescuer, guardian, and later master. He takes Qing Lin in after saving her from the Sand Mercenary Group, supports her cultivation, and repeatedly risks himself to treat her soul injury; Qing Lin is deeply attached to him. 38 42 87 241

- Ya Fei — An older-sister figure within the Mite'er Family estate; Qing Lin refers to her as “Big Sister Ya Fei.” 102
- Tianxie Mansion — Its Grand Elder sends agents to seize Qing Lin, apparently because of her pupils; Qing Lin later rejects the prospect of becoming the mansion's heir. 46 270
