She stared fixedly at the screen. The monsters that had been wandering aimlessly stopped in perfect unison. Their featureless heads turned mechanically, their gazes all fixed on something beyond the screen-on Axel, who was dancing.
That deathly stare sent chills down their spines.
"Axel! Get out!" Bird shrieked, her voice distorted by sheer terror.
Axel stopped dancing, looking bewildered. "What? Out of power already?"
"Get out! Now!" Bird practically roared.
Axel dared not hesitate. In a flash, he became a streak of light, broke through the screen's barrier, and reformed into a solid body before them. "What happened?"
"Your Dragon Ball overloaded inside and triggered a chain reaction!" Bird pointed at the screen, her finger trembling. "Our Dragon Balls resonated with it, and that energy fed back into you, sending your power out of control. Look at those monsters..."
Everyone held their breath and looked.
The monsters on the screen were no longer looking around. Their gazes had grown sharp and malicious, and all their heads turned toward the observers at once. It was as though they were staring into their souls through a pane of glass.
"They... came alive?" Fayan Luo sucked in a sharp breath.
The moment he spoke, a smaller monster suddenly lunged, shattering the barrier between the virtual world and reality. It leaped out as a pitch-black electronic afterimage. Instead of attacking Axel, it veered sideways at an unnatural angle and instantly plunged into the screen of an unused television nearby.
With a faint crackle, the television screen shook violently, then went black.
A deathly silence settled over the entire room.
"That monster... has come alive too." Feingabai's voice was hoarse, his eyes filled with terror unlike anything he had ever felt.
