Arc Moon Slash
Qin Mo watched as Huang Seshu charged at him with a sword, and a trace of fear actually surfaced in his heart. He knew this was because he had not yet adapted to the environment of such bloody combat. Although high combat awareness and proficiency had been forged into him under Allen's rigorous training, psychologically he was still that otaku from Earth.
Pitting an adult against a boy would naturally carry no pressure, but if that boy held a dagger, the adult's heart would definitely tremble as well, because the boy already possessed the possibility of harming him. Of course, those special forces operatives, king-tier soldiers, and members of the Fang detachment were exceptions.
Fortunately, thank goodness, Huang Seshu's movements felt exceptionally, incredibly slow to Qin Mo, and a slight evasion by Qin Mo allowed him to dodge the attack. Yet Huang Seshu did not let a single strike miss, leveraging the momentum to spin and slash back in reverse. Qin Mo hoisted the blunt-mouthed double-bladed axe and blocked it at his waist. Clang... The sharp metallic clash sent tremors through everyone's eardrums, and also shook Huang Seshu's heart.
Three years had passed, and Huang Seshu believed his own progress was vast enough. Three years ago Qin Mo was no match for him, especially since Qin Mo's physique was extremely frail. Looking at Qin Mo now, his build was even more dismal, but judging from the rebound force of the longsword, Qin Mo's physical strength was shockingly immense.
Huang Seshu composed himself, wielding the sword with both hands. He intended to dismantle Qin Mo's fighting spirit with a thunderous, ferocious assault. Having honed his skills in the Wang Family Sword Room for over two years, he naturally understood that greenhorns like Qin Mo who had never been to a battlefield feared nothing more than a life-or-death saturation attack.
For a time, Huang Seshu whirled and fluttered around Qin Mo. The longsword in his hand blazed with dazzling light, illuminating the surroundings as bright as day. He himself had to squint his eyes, barely able to sense his own sword momentum anymore.
Yet amidst the myriad sword shadows, Qin Mo was like an autumn leaf fluttering with the wind. Let the wild gale howl, he would simply ride the wind and drift along. Qin Mo had already fallen into a wondrous state. He urged the vital liquid in his Dantian to transform into vapor, which seeped out of his body, carefully sensing the contact and tearing between his vital essence and Huang Seshu's sword momentum. He felt as though he had cast a massive net of vital essence around his body, while Huang Seshu was merely a trapped mosquito or fly, no matter how it struggled and resisted, completely within his grasp.
Qin Mo had never felt this way when practicing battle techniques with Allen. Allen could always slip a weapon in front of him imperceptibly, leaving him scrambling to cope. But now, battling Huang Seshu, he understood the man's tactics inside and out.
To onlookers, Huang Seshu's sword momentum crisscrossed and radiance shot in all directions, while Qin Mo darted nimbly across the arena at blazing speed, even dragging out trails of afterimages. The transition between motion and stillness was graceful and casual; if not for the ragged, oversized axe he still dragged in his hand, he would look precisely like a dancer performing an enchanting melody.
"A vulgar person holding a divine artifact merely defiles its beauty, while a noble scholar wielding mortal iron can hardly conceal its brilliance." Qin Yumu took out his jade-handled folding fan once more, fluttering and fanning it slowly, entirely unfeeling that it was now the dead of night rather than the scorching blaze of day.
The sword light in the arena was growing increasingly dim, and Huang Seshu's momentum plummeted even further. After all, he was only at the Yellow Realm Peak; driving the formation to fight was already a strenuous effort, and forcing two formations simultaneously for so long meant the vital essence in his Dantian was nearly exhausted. Hardening his heart, he seized an opening to leap out several zhang and shouted aloud.
"Qin Mo, since we signed a life-and-death pact, let's fight properly like men. Why do you always dodge like a woman?"
Qin Mo had been experiencing the marvelous utility of externalizing his vital essence just moments ago, conveniently observing the Wang Family battle techniques used by Huang Seshu. His combat experience was far too scarce, and the Wang Family battle techniques were indeed extraordinary; after watching for so long, he had gained quite a bit. Just as he was feeling pleased, someone compared him to a woman. Qin Mo detested nothing more than people saying he looked like a woman, and instantly his anger flared ten thousand feet high, murderous intent surging fiercely.
"You should know that while a life-and-death pact is signed, it doesn't necessarily mean a split of life and death. But since you are hell-bent on courting death, this prince shall grant your wish." Qin Mo's words sounded as though they drifted from the edge of the sky, devoid of a shred of worldly dust, yet everyone was seized in heart and soul by his tone.
Qin Mo walked toward Huang Seshu step by step, completely altering his nimble combat style. Every step landed like a thousand jun of weight, causing the ground to tremble with fine shudders.
Huang Seshu knew Qin Mo would inevitably unleash his full-strength strike against him. He stimulated every scrap of remaining vital essence in his Dantian, preparing to clash fiercely with Qin Mo one last time.
Qin Mo walked faster and faster, suddenly bursting with force to sweep several zhang forward right before Huang Seshu's eyes. His vital essence activated the two formations within the double-bladed axe, his body curving like a bow as he swung the axe like the moon. Everyone witnessed a waning moon suspended in mid-air accompanied by several afterimages of Qin Mo, crossing paths with Huang Seshu.
From rushing forward to coming to a complete stop, it took mere an instant for Qin Mo. Many people only felt an arc of moonlight flash before their eyes and vanish instantly, and when they looked back at the arena... Huang Seshu had already been severed at the waist into two halves, the cut on the soft armor around his waist impeccably neat, leaving everyone utterly dumbfounded.
Clink... It seemed after a long while, the longsword in Huang Seshu's hand finally hit the ground, its crisp metallic sound snapping the stunned crowd around them back to reality.
...Arc Moon Slash... Someone called out the name.
Hearing someone name the battle technique he had used, Qin Mo could not help but smile. The signature battle techniques of the Elven Race were certainly not undeservedly famous. He walked to Huang Seshu's side, and with a slight flick of his toe, the longsword flew into his hand. He casually spun a pretty, enchanting sword flower to mask the unease in his heart. After all, this was his first time killing someone, and furthermore amidst a crowd of onlookers. To claim he felt nothing inside would be a lie; in fact, looking at the blood and gore all over the floor, he was practically on the verge of vomiting.
"Miss Wang, please be troubled to pay for these two sets of weapons. I certainly don't have the habit of buying on credit!" Forcing down the discomfort in his heart, Qin Mo cast an alluring, bewitching smile toward Wang Yuyan.
...You may simply take them, the Wang Family will never default on a debt... Looking at Huang Seshu, who was enduring excruciating agony while casting a hopeful gaze toward her, disgust bloomed across Wang Yuyan's face.
Huang Seshu caught the look of aversion from the maiden deeply hidden in his heart, and could no longer bear the agonizing pain of being sliced in half, screaming piercingly again and again. The sound compelled the surrounding crowd to instinctively back away, clearing an even larger space. His cries grew lower and lower, ultimately fading into complete silence.
Hoss had already packed up the set of double short blades, respectfully handing them over to Qin Yumu's guards. Regardless of the race, anyone bearing the heritage of the High Elves would command due respect.
"Mozi... since when did you become so formidable... I feel like... it's possible... I might not be able to beat you anymore." Qin Yumu hugged and kissed Qin Mo repeatedly, yet his words came out stuttering and utterly awkward.
"It's not possible, you definitely can't beat him anymore." Qin Qin Yuanze fanned his folding fan furiously. Everyone assumed he was elated by Qin Mo's victory, but in truth he knew himself that he was wallowing in depression—he couldn't beat Qin Mo either.
"Let's go. Today's outing is ruined, no more strolling. I have fine wine in my camp, let's head back and share a few cups."
Inside Qin Mo's camp, the three men sat facing one another, accompanied by four or five dishes and two or three jars of potent liquor. In no time at all, they were completely intoxicated.
"Mozi... good wine... pack a cart of it for me when I leave."
"I... want a cart too..."
"There... there isn't that much. I'll give each of you a few jars at most. How much do I even have in total here..."
"That... that's... true. Fine wine like this... is worth a thousand pieces of gold." Qin Yumu was genuinely straightforward; he did not feel Qin Mo was stingy at all, considering it a massive bargain to have forged brotherhood with him.
"Today... why did that Wang Yuyan... everywhere... make things difficult for me? Do you guys actually know why?" Qin Mo hiccuped from the wine and asked casually.
Not a soul spoke for half a moment. Qin Mo looked up to find Qin Yumu and Qin Yuanze staring at him with four eyes wide, as though they were looking at a complete fool.
