Crazy Winning Streak

April 19, Hokkaido.

At the Hokkaido Diamonds' home arena, the game between the Tokyo Thunder and the Hokkaido Diamonds had reached the fifth minute of the third quarter.

Wu Yufei, once again in the starting lineup, had already played 25 minutes.

Although they were facing the merely average Hokkaido Diamonds today, the Tokyo Thunder players naturally showed no hint of complacency, much less mercy.

At this point, the score stood at Tokyo Thunder 79, Hokkaido Diamonds 50.

The outcome was already painfully clear. Even with half of the third quarter and an entire fourth quarter remaining, not even the Hokkaido Diamonds' own players or the fans in the stands believed they could turn the game around.

In the eighth minute, Wu Yufei brought the ball into the frontcourt, rose decisively from two steps beyond the three-point line, and drilled a smooth pull-up three. The Hokkaido Diamonds' coach let out a long sigh, called a helpless timeout, pulled all his physically and mentally exhausted starters, and sent in the entire bench.

Coach Oyama generously accepted the opponent's surrender and likewise took out Wu Yufei and the others.

The final twelve minutes passed in methodical half-court battles between the two teams' reserves.

As the final buzzer sounded, the score on the sideline scoreboard was frozen at Tokyo Thunder 111, Hokkaido Diamonds 72.

It was a brutal 39-point slaughter, just one point short of a 40-point margin, and the largest point differential in the Japan Professional Basketball League after two rounds of regular-season play.

Wu Yufei, who had started and put up 30 points, 14 assists, 7 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 blocks in 28 minutes, once again unquestionably became the brightest star on the court.

Another three days passed...
