Soon, a stable spacetime bubble formed within the turbulence, protecting her companions.
"Mephisto?" Delta stared at her in surprise. "Your energy fluctuations... they're completely different."
"My inheritance awakened," Mephisto explained briefly, then looked beyond the turbulence. "The Walker of Oblivion followed us in."
Sure enough, the Walker of Oblivion had charged into the temporal turbulence despite the danger. His black figure flickered in and out amid the chaotic currents of time.
"I found you." The Walker of Oblivion released the Fog of Oblivion. "Even here, you cannot escape."
"Who said I was running?" Mephisto smiled.
Her hands swiftly formed seals, and silver strands of spacetime began weaving an immensely complex structure. This was no simple trap, but a conceptual-level Spacetime Maze.
Just as the Walker of Oblivion was about to attack, he discovered that he was already inside the maze. Every direction held the same corridor, and every path led back to its own starting point.
"Impossible!" He tried to destroy the maze with the power of oblivion, only to find no way to begin—every node of the maze was connected to a different point in time. Destroy one, and a node from another time would immediately replace it.
"Your ability makes others forget." Mephisto began Causal Reshaping. "But what if, in terms of causality, you had never existed at all?"
Silver light enveloped the Walker of Oblivion. It was not attacking his present, but redefining the very foundation of his existence.
If an existence that made people forget did not itself exist, then its ability became a paradox.
The Walker of Oblivion let out a pained shriek. His form began to twist and disintegrate. The conceptual paradox made it impossible for him to maintain his own existence.
"No... that's impossible..." His voice grew weaker and weaker.
Although, at the
