Gu Lin Is a Mad Dog
The person in bed suddenly opened his eyes. The alarm clock by the bed showed seven in the morning. He threw back the covers, quickly washed up, composed his expression, and opened the door.
"Morning, President Gu." A voice came from downstairs.
It wasn't him.
Gu Lin pressed his lips together slightly and gave a soft hum. "Morning."
Aunt Liu carried out the prepared breakfast and smiled. "President Gu, why not sleep a little longer? It's the weekend."
She had worked here for ten years and had practically watched Gu Lin grow up. The young Master Gu of the past had become President Gu, but in her eyes, he was still just a child—a pitiful child.
"No. I still have work." He paused at the staircase, his dark eyes fixed tightly on the entryway.
Just like last night, Lin Su had not come home.
Aunt Liu noticed his gaze and sighed inwardly. She knew someone had suddenly moved into the house, and she could tell that the relationship between the two was somewhat strained. It was not her place to ask about such private family matters.
She only hoped the two gentlemen would reconcile soon.
It was now late September, and autumn mornings carried a slight chill. When the sun rose high, a car stopped in front of the villa. The person who stepped out was Lin Su, who had been gone all night.
His suit was badly wrinkled, and he looked as though he had not slept well.
It was more than just poor sleep. After finally finding a hotel last night, he had slept until his back and waist ached. With suggestive sounds coming from all directions, no one could have slept well.
Stretching, Lin Su headed upstairs. At the stairway, he looked toward a certain spot, silently withdrew his gaze, and walked toward his room.
He knew Gu Lin's schedule. Feng Yanyao was always the one hosting business talks. Fortunately, Lin Su was not the one assigned to coordinate with him, so he could enjoy the weekend properly.
Because Gu Lin would not be coming back. Yes, he had once again fallen into the arms of that little white flower, tangled up with her. Without the marking from the original novel the first time around, Lin Su did not know whether things would proceed as smoothly as they had in the book.
He unconsciously touched the gland at the back of his neck, feeling a little stifled.
Drying his hair, Lin Su slowly walked onto the balcony. The autumn roses had wilted somewhat, their red petals tinged with rusty yellow. A breeze scattered several petals.
Slender fingers drew the curtains shut, plunging the room into darkness.
He leaped onto the bed, swiftly lay down, pulled the covers over himself, and closed his eyes. The entire sequence was completed in one smooth motion.
Young people only needed to work hard on weekdays. Now it was time to lie down.
After a while, only soft, shallow breathing remained in the room.
When Lin Su woke again, his head felt heavy, and drowsiness washed over him once more. He propped himself up and sat up.
Not only was his head heavy, but his throat was dry too. Rubbing his head, he groggily got up and pulled open the curtains. The sunlight was still blinding, making his eyes uncomfortable.
It seemed he had not slept long. Sure enough, his phone showed that it was 3:16 in the afternoon.
Lin Su slowly went downstairs. The shoes by the entryway had not moved; Gu Lin had not returned. His brows drew together as he headed for the kitchen.
After drinking a glass of water, he felt much lighter. Satisfied, he sat on the sofa and flipped through a magazine.
"Ding-dong, ding-dong."
The doorbell rang. Who could it be at this hour?
"Ding-dong, ding-dong..." The ringing was urgent, as though whoever it was were rushing him.
Lin Su quickened his pace toward the door. By the time he reached it, someone outside had begun pounding fiercely.
"Open the door! Open the door!"
Had he heard that voice somewhere before?
The door opened, and a dark figure collapsed at his feet.
"Assistant Lin, you really are here!"
At the sound, he looked over. Wasn't this the little white flower? Surprise flashed through Lin Su's eyes before he looked at the person on the floor. It was Gu Lin.
So what exactly was going on?
Mu Xiaomu was over the moon. If she had wings, she probably would have flown straight into the heavens already.
She knew Assistant Lin was here. Just like the original novel! That meant everything that had happened before also...
The Lin-Gu CP was real!
Slurp. Her drool nearly spilled out—hold it in!
Mu Xiaomu waved as she ran toward the car, her already delicate face blooming into a brilliant smile. "Assistant Lin, I'll head back first. Mon..."
Would she see him on Monday?
"Goodbye."
A cloud of exhaust later, the car sped away.
What was that about porridge?
Lin Su was a little confused, but he could not leave his boss sleeping on the floor. He hoisted him up and brought him inside.
Fortunately, the smell of alcohol on him was not too strong. It seemed he had drunk some new kind of liquor again.
Gu Lin could not hold his liquor well. Lin Su was generally present whenever there was a drinking event, after all, he was the only male Beta in the assistant's office.
[Why did Mu Xiaomu leave just like that...] The voice sounded regretful.
[This is the perfect chance for the mistress to rise to power. I could totally leave!]
He carried the man upstairs, unease rising in his heart.
[I should still leave later. The closer I get to the protagonists, the more unlucky I'll be. If it's drugged alcohol again, can an Omega beat an Alpha?]
Thinking this, he tossed the man onto the bed. He had not noticed last time, but now he discovered that behind Gu Lin's balcony was actually a forest.
Layers upon layers of green trees surrounded the balcony, perfectly blocking out the sunlight.
Wasn't he afraid of snakes and bugs getting into a room like this? What was the point of this artificial forest, then?
For convenient streaking?
Lin Su shook his head. What was he even thinking? He should cover him up and leave quickly.
Unfortunately, Gu Lin was pinning the blanket down tightly. Even using all his strength, Lin Su could not pull out the slightest bit of it.
He sat on the edge of the bed, then got up and took a blanket from the wardrobe to cover Gu Lin. He quietly left the room.
The instant the door shut, the person on the bed opened his eyes. He abruptly sat up, his face icy, and strode outside.
Lin Su casually packed a few things. To guard against unexpected situations on the road, he deliberately brought several cans of special suppressants, all enhanced versions.
The hospital had been conducting research, and he had specifically signed up to bring them back. If they worked, he could be considered to have contributed something to all Omegas. Still, he had his own selfish motives.
Distance. He did not want to get close to any of the protagonists in the book.
With a backpack on his shoulders and loose bangs hanging over his forehead, he really did look a bit like a college student.
Whew, Gu Lin probably could not manage alone. He should call Aunt Liu.
Lin Su lowered his head, tapped at his phone, and opened the door. His finger paused over Aunt Liu's contact as a black shadow blocked his view.
"You!" When had Gu Lin gotten outside?
"Where are you going?" His voice was faint, betraying no emotion. He was tall to begin with, and the shadow from the doorframe obscured his eyes and brows.
Lin Su's expression remained unchanged, still carrying that gentle look. In a warm voice, he said, "Out for a while."
He would not say much. After all, he did not want to get too entangled with the person before him.
Gu Lin said nothing. He strode forward, his oppressive presence forcing Lin Su to retreat again and again.
Bang! The door shut.
Lin Su was alarmed. He turned and ran upstairs. Gu Lin's expression was terrifying, as though he wanted to devour someone.
How could an Omega outrun an Alpha? Before he could even take half a step, he was pinned to the ground.
Then pain flared in his neck.
"Gu Lin, you..." Lin Su's pupils contracted. Panting, he cursed, "You really are a mad dog."
It was the first time in more than twenty years that he had cursed someone.
