It Has Arrived~

The two of them were both the type to keep business and personal matters separate. Once they got to work, each busied himself with his own tasks.

"Ring-ring." Lin Su's phone rang. This number wasn't one of the company extensions.

"Hello." He asked cautiously, "May I ask who this is?"

The caller immediately replied, "Hello, I'm Li Yeshan. Could you spare me a few minutes?"

Lin Su raised his eyes to Gu Lin, who was looking at him, and said word by word, "So it's Manager Li from Huaye Group. May I ask what you need our President Gu for?"

Gu Lin frowned slightly. He had met Huaye's old chairman a few times. The man was arrogant, but there was no denying that his company was among the best in the country.

Why would such a large company come looking for him?

Lin Su could see Gu Lin's doubts as well, so he directly turned on the speakerphone. Li Yeshan's modest, even somewhat ingratiating voice came through. "It's nothing, nothing. I just wanted to ask whether Assistant Lin has time to have a meal together."

Lin Su frowned, knowing the man was beating around the bush, but Gu Lin could no longer sit still. He rose and walked toward Lin Su.

Gu Lin was about to ask, but Lin Su raised a hand to stop him. He sighed softly. "Manager Li, our company has been swamped lately. I really don't have time to accept your invitation."

Li Yeshan said over the phone, "I see. Could it be because of the South City Commercial District that's about to be developed? I heard that project is indeed quite major."

"But I believe in Assistant Lin's abilities. You'll definitely handle it well."

Gu Lin understood what Lin Su wanted to do. He raised his hand and caught the hand suspended in midair, earning a light glare from Lin Su.

"Manager Li, you flatter me. I'm only an assistant, and I can merely do my small part." Lin Su was gradually figuring out the man's intentions.

With a trace of concern in his voice, he said, "President Gu has been working quite hard lately. The whole company still needs to..."

Li Yeshan's voice came from the other end. "Hello?"

"Assistant Lin?"

Lin Su gently pushed at the person beside him. When it proved useless, he gave up and mimicked the other man's voice. "Hello, Manager Li, hello..."

Why are you hugging me? I haven't finished probing him yet!

Gu Lin smiled soundlessly, his chin lightly brushing Lin Su's hair. It was soft and fragrant, smelling somewhat like roses.

Roses? Gu Lin tilted his head and silently sniffed near the back of Lin Su's neck.

The closer he got, the stronger the scent became. He lifted the black hair and saw the suppressant patch exposed before him. The patch was fine, so why was there still a fragrance? Could it be...

A hug was just a hug. Lin Su had no time to worry about it, but just as he finally got the other party to reveal his intentions, the hair at the back of his neck was lifted, and his whole body trembled.

He grabbed the hand trying to cause trouble and fiercely glared at Gu Lin with his peach-blossom eyes.

Don't you have any sense of propriety? Can an omega's gland be touched so casually?

This call is basically over, and his intentions are already clear. Is the bar for becoming a Huaye Group manager really this low?

It's not good to call people stupid, but this guy is a little too dense.

Could he be doing it on purpose? Lin Su frowned and finally ended the call.

"A tall tree catches the wind. It's inevitable that people will get jealous." As he spoke, Gu Lin took Lin Su's hand and slowly led him forward. "He came to test the waters."

Gu Lin explained, "On the surface, Huaye and Li Yeshan don't seem to have much of a connection, but privately, he's Director Fang's son-in-law. Otherwise, there's no way someone so young could have reached such a high position."

Does this count as rich-family gossip? I never would have noticed before.

When the door opened, Lin Su realized that, at some point, they had arrived at the lounge. He shook free of Gu Lin's hand, took a step back, and warily stared at the man before him.

Gu Lin knew he had misunderstood and explained with a helpless smile, "You're entering your sensitive period. It's probably because you helped me yesterday."

Sensitive period?

Lin Su touched the back of his neck. Even through the suppressant patch, he could feel the heat underneath.

Wasn't that basically the equivalent of a heat? Blushing, he took several more steps back. "I-I should take leave and go home."

But Gu Lin is the boss. He can't exactly come home with me, can he?

This is the company. We can't possibly rest here and... do that, can we?

Gu Lin pursed his lips, aware that his behavior had been somewhat improper. He took out a bottle of suppressant from his pocket and sprayed it on Lin Su until even he could no longer smell the scent, then turned toward the desk.

He went over to Lin Su's desk and efficiently gathered several documents. Lin Su understood what Gu Lin meant, hurried forward, and said, "I can go back by myself. It's only a sensitive period. I'll be fine if I endure it."

Gu Lin placed the documents in his hands. "Listen to me on this."

Afraid that his tone had been too forceful, his cold features softened. "Come on. Let's go home."

The two walked out. Lin Su gave a brief rundown of the work arrangements, then entered the elevator under the gaze of the three others.

Xiao Jiang said, "Strange. Does President Gu have any business trips scheduled lately?"

Xiao Zeng also looked confused. "I don't know. I remember there aren't any."

"Ah, forget it. Let's work."

Xiao Jiang's eyes darted around, and with a bang, she slapped the desk. "I know! Maybe the boss's little rose is in trouble!"

"He was so anxious to drag Assistant Lin away. He must have been using him as a cover!"

Xiao Zeng exchanged a glance with Xiao Wang. Xiao Wang said speechlessly, "Can you read fewer novels? This is real life."

"Romance novels about domineering CEOs don't exist, okay?"

But Xiao Jiang remained utterly convinced. "A woman's intuition is just that strange. I believe it definitely exists!"

The other two shook their heads helplessly, thinking that this girl had truly become obsessed.
