Dragon City's hidden realm, Dragon Gate Gorge.
Like the Saint Origin Continent, Dragon Gate Gorge was a complete realm in its own right.
The sea covered ninety percent of Dragon Gate Gorge, and at the center of that ocean lay a continent.
Ordinary land rose above sea level, roughly resembling a convex shape, but Dragon Gate Continent was the opposite: it was concave.
The land itself was an enormous basin. Its rim rose above sea level, keeping the seawater out, while the terrain gradually descended toward the interior. The basin's lowest point lay ten thousand zhang below sea level-a full sixty li.
Walking that distance would take several hours. As a measure of height, it was almost unimaginable.
The terrain inside Dragon Gate Basin rose and fell unevenly. At its easternmost edge, a gap broke through the rim, letting vast quantities of seawater pour in. The water thundered downward, forming the mighty Dragon Gate River, thirty li wide.
For the first three hundred li inland from the sea, Dragon Gate River ran through steep terrain. Beyond that point, it forked into numerous tributaries that flowed into the basin before finally converging at its center.
Viewed from high above, the first three hundred li of the river's main channel resembled a strip of white silk. Beyond that point, the silk was torn into countless strips.
At the river's branching point stood Riverheart Island, three li across.
Riverheart Island was uninhabited year-round, and the entire realm of Dragon Gate Gorge had no intelligent life. The seas held only aquatic creatures without spiritual awareness. The natural primordial energy here was so thin that even the Dragon Race was unwilling to live here for long.
Yet at intervals ranging from several thousand to tens of thousands of years, Riverheart Island would occasionally bustle with
