A gust of wind swept past.
The tiles at the very top of the gate tower turned into fine grains of sand, scattering on the wind and drifting like yellow silk through the night.
Everyone stared blankly, as though an invisible blade had sliced the roof horizontally into a thin sheet of paper, turning it to dust and sand before slicing away another sheet.
One slice after another, each turning into dust and sand.
Layer upon layer turned to dust, scattering at the first breath of wind, faster and faster.
"Everyone, get off the walls! Head for open ground! Quickly!"
The officers and soldiers of Heaven Gate Pass hurried down from the walls, while everyone inside the buildings moved onto the streets or drill grounds.
Several million people stared blankly as Heaven Gate Pass began at its highest point, layer after layer turning into fine dust that filled the sky without ever stopping.
After the gate towers vanished layer by layer, the city walls began to vanish as well.
Watching the walls in every direction get blown into yellow sand one layer at a time, all the soldiers shuddered.
The walls gradually shrank. Once they were no taller than the city's rooftops, every roof in the city, like the walls, turned to sand layer by layer.
Everyone's hair stood on end.
"Run! We're going to be sliced to pieces!"
The Heaven Gate Army fell into chaos, countless soldiers fleeing madly beyond the city.
The general guarding the pass let out a long sigh and allowed the troops to flee.
The walls had already been cut down into low barriers. Soldiers on every side jumped over them and fled outward.
Strangely, the walls and buildings were sliced into sand layer by layer, yet not a single person was harmed.
Before
