There was so much I wanted to say.
I wrote over ten thousand words for this note, then deleted it all.
Mainly because I had already said far, far too much in my previous book.
With this book, I hoped to devote more energy to telling the story and honing my writing skills.

This book started off rather slowly, because I was using a new approach to write a new world. Only by gradually becoming proficient could I slowly pick up the pace.
I wrote five or six thousand words every day, yet often cut them down to just over four thousand, because I wanted the story to be more engaging.
I understood one thing very clearly: I was writing a story, not merely filling a word count.
I could not guarantee that every reader would like it, but I could guarantee that I was doing my utmost.
I could also guarantee that I was improving, and that my writing would become more and more enjoyable.
