Chu Yang opened his eyes and looked down—both arms below the shoulders had become blurry, like reflections seen underwater. Their outlines remained, but the details could no longer be made out clearly.
"Continue," Sun Wukong said. "Chest and abdomen."
Chu Yang gritted his teeth and extended his spiritual energy toward his torso.
The chest and abdomen covered three or four times the area of the arms, and involved several vital regions such as the heart, dantian, and spine. When spiritual energy passed through those areas, it was easily disturbed by the qi activity of his internal organs and could become unstable.
He carefully controlled the speed and direction of his spiritual energy, as though using an extremely fine brush to paint a massive picture across his body's surface—every stroke had to be precise, without the slightest deviation.
Chest—covered.
Abdomen—covered.
Back—this was the hardest spot. His back was outside his field of vision, making it difficult to direct his attention there accurately. He could only rely on his memory of his own body's structure, constructing a "map" of the skin on his back in his mind before spreading his spiritual energy according to its contours.
The results were less than ideal. He could feel several gaps in the spiritual energy covering his back—roughly beneath his left shoulder blade and at both sides of his waist—but he had no time to patch them up. The spiritual energy in his dantian had already fallen below thirty percent.
"Forget about your back for now," Sun Wukong said, seeing his predicament. "Don't try your legs and feet either. Your spiritual energy can't support it. Being able to cover your arms, chest, and abdomen has already exceeded I, Old Sun's expectations."
Chu Yang nodded and slowly withdrew his spiritual energy.
The glow faded from the surface
