An invisible force slammed the pursuer's head into the iron bars.
Clang!
The impact rattled the bars before the head bounced back onto the floor. Its already hideous face had been smashed into a bloody pulp, making it look even more terrifying.
But Emma Eddie did not spare the head so much as a glance.
A face formed from blood had already filled her field of vision.
The blood had been drawn from the pursuer's chest. At such close range, Emma Eddie could still feel the faint warmth it held.
Yet Emma Eddie felt as though she had plunged into an ice cellar.
"B-Blood Man!"
Emma Eddie stammered out the title-or perhaps it was his name.
Having spent her life on the streets, Emma Eddie knew very well whom she could afford to provoke and whom she could not.
The Blood Man before her belonged to the latter category.
And he ranked among the worst of them, one of the truly dangerous ones.
As far as she knew, at least twenty confirmed deaths were connected to him. The number of unconfirmed victims exceeded fifty, perhaps even more.
Dealing with someone like him offered nothing but danger.
So Emma Eddie knew what she had to do.
She straightened up as best she could and tried hard to enunciate clearly.
"What do you need?"
"Or is there something you'd like to know from me?"
"Is it about the deal with Blood Ridge?"
Emma Eddie asked tentatively.
No fool, Emma Eddie forced herself to calm down, her mind racing.
She understood her own value as clearly as she knew her pockets were empty: she herself was worth nothing. Only the information she had just uncovered held any value.
"I like clever little girls like you. Much better than that idiot who was shouting
