"How did you do it?"

"Why did my preparations fail?"

Pudek panted heavily, his eyes bloodshot as he shouted his questions at Qin Ran.

"I wasn't working alone."

Qin Ran slowly circled him, shaking his head as he spoke.

"Impossible! Impossible!"

"I've been watching all your people, including that woman, Emma Eddie. None of them could possibly have gotten near the place where I kept Hell's Sigh."

"No!"

"You couldn't possibly have found where I kept Hell's Sigh!"

Pudek roared, clearly unable to accept reality, his words growing increasingly incoherent.

"True, I couldn't have guessed."

"But why would I need to guess?"

"Wherever you go, you leave traces-and scents. Those scents are barely noticeable to most people, even Transcendents, but to certain beings, they're all too obvious."

Qin Ran chuckled.

"Your dog?!"

"Did it find where I kept Hell's Sigh?"

"Did it sneak in and ruin my preparations, too?"

Pudek froze, then quickly caught on.

Then he began grinding his teeth.

No matter what, Pudek could not believe he had failed because of a dog.

And he had seen that dog before.

The dim-witted-looking husky did nothing but tear up homes and wreck rooms. There was nothing about it worth paying attention to. He had even personally seen Qin Ran scold the husky for chewing up a cushion.

"Was all of that an act for my benefit?"

Pudek asked in a low voice.

"No."

"Sometimes it's just like that."

"It's in its nature."

After a moment's consideration, Qin Ran shook his head again.

The Hybrid Frost Wolf Cub's maternal bloodline could be astonishingly powerful at times, so powerful that it nearly overrode its paternal bloodline.

It made the cub look like nothing more than a dog, without any of a Frost Wolf's majesty.

Of course, Qin Ran did not mind.
