The three men stared at the thing at their feet. After a moment of stunned surprise, their faces blanched.

They had no idea why a grenade had suddenly appeared at their feet, but they knew what they needed to do.

Kanbeck vaulted behind the sofa.

Sree followed suit, twisting his corpulent body toward the back of the sofa, but an immense force suddenly seized him and dragged him down onto the grenade.

Piske roared.

Nobody liked strangers invading their home.

Now both had happened to Piske.
