"By tipping him off?"
The most impatient of the four seated there spoke.
His tone was harsh, and anger burned in his eyes.
In fact, all four of them were angry.
Nobody wanted plans they had spent so long laying to come to nothing because of some insignificant nobody.
"I said I would give you an explanation."
"And I keep my word."
After saying that, the man who had emerged from the shadows said nothing more. He turned and left the pitch-black room.
The most impatient man watched his retreating back until he disappeared completely. Only after a subordinate confirmed that he had truly left did the anger vanish from the man's eyes.
What replaced it was...
Smug satisfaction.
"Nicely done."
The leader of the four spoke in an unhurried tone.
"Of course!"
"Just look at who was handling it!"
The most impatient man replied.
By now, none of his earlier impatience remained. There was only cunning.
"I don't care about the rest. I just want to be certain he won't find out."
A calm voice came from the corner.
"Are you questioning my abilities?"
"When we voted to put me in charge of this operation, you voted in favor too."
The man who was impatient on the outside and scheming within snorted.
"That was because I didn't know you would choose such a lousy tactic!"
"If you want to use the Flame Demon to get rid of that fellow, watch out for both of them turning on you!"
"We can't withstand a pincer attack from 2567 and Aislyde. And even if that fellow takes Aislyde's place, we'll still suffer enormous losses."
The voice from the corner clearly could no longer remain calm. It rose a little, with a trace of anger creeping into it.
