Edshire was dangerous at night, especially after the night of the Blood Moon. No one knew what kind of monsters lurked in the darkness beyond the reach of sight.
Therefore, by dusk, the people of Edshire hurried home, sealed their doors and windows tight, and placed anything that could be used as a weapon within reach. Even those who had to go out at night chose to travel in armed groups, just like the members of the Special Operations Group.
A five-man Special Operations Group team drove slowly along the street. Though the car's headlights were set to high beams, the light was swallowed by darkness less than five meters away.

After cursing, the patrol captain slowed down even more, while the other four people in the car turned to watch their surroundings.
The streetlights that should have been bright had become hazy in the darkness, as though fog had enveloped Edshire. The Special Operations Group members observing their surroundings unconsciously tightened their grips on their weapons.
As members of the Special Operations Group, they were not here for a stroll.
They were on night patrol.
