Chapter 1289: Dazzling
The sound of the door closing echoed in Qin Ran's ears. Even the light cast down from the ceiling seemed to sway under the massive Impact.
Mechanical.
Heavy.
Qin Ran easily pictured the door being shut under the control of precise machinery, along with the gears hidden within the walls and beneath the floor.
"More heavily guarded and secret than you imagined, isn't it?"
Sitting on the room's only bed, Webster beckoned to Qin Ran. The shackles around his wrists swayed with a clatter.
"Yes."
Qin Ran nodded without denying it.
Everything here had indeed exceeded his expectations.
Just like Webster before him.
The other man was even more unusual than Qin Ran had surmised.
Qin Ran's gaze swept over the welded metal bed before finally settling on Webster's aged face. Compared to the anger and grief Webster had worn when they last met, the ease and smile on his face now seemed far more natural. Moreover, he was far more cooperative than expected.
"Thank you for coming to see me."
"At this point, I'm afraid you're the only one who can still come see me."
"I had originally hoped that we could work together to track down the murderer who killed my son."
"However..."
"I discovered something."
"So, I acted ahead of time."
Without waiting for Qin Ran to ask, Webster began speaking on his own. As he spoke, he forcefully swung his wrist, as if reliving the moment he stabbed Hardy Lin to death.
"It felt wonderful!"
"Even better than I imagined!"
He added.
"What did you discover?"
Qin Ran asked with interest.
"Something very interesting."
"But it doesn't matter anymore. My great revenge has been fulfilled. I have no regrets."
"For the rest of my days, I'll quietly wait for death to come."
"And..."
