When a thoroughly satisfied Qin Ran entered the logistics office on the first floor, the spacious room was already packed.
At a glance, there were at least a hundred people.
Their faces were unfamiliar. None of them were people he had seen in this building earlier.
So there really was more than one examination venue?
With that suspicion in mind, Qin Ran slowly walked toward the teacher in charge of logistics.
The spot was easy to identify. A sign reading "Logistics Office (New Student Reception)" stood on a desk.
"2567?"
"You're certainly late."
"Here are your things. Take them."
A teacher wearing reading glasses handed Qin Ran a black travel bag, then put away the sign and headed outside.
The door slowly closed.
Under the incandescent lights, the logistics office felt oppressive, packed with people yet utterly silent, especially with all those eyes fixed on Qin Ran.
In fact, ever since Qin Ran had entered the office, over a hundred pairs of eyes had followed this last-arriving new student.
Some held puzzlement.
Some held curiosity.
Some held impatience.
Even more held disdain.
Although time wasn't the standard for passing the preliminary exam, the last person to arrive couldn't possibly have done very well.
With that preconception in place, the little cliques that had already formed among the new students paid Qin Ran no attention. They didn't think he was worth it.
The others felt the same way.
So everyone merely watched Qin Ran, and not one person approached him to talk.
Qin Ran couldn't have cared less.
After checking the black travel bag and finding nothing but everyday necessities inside, he carried it to an empty corner, tossed it onto the floor, and sat against the wall. He pulled up his hood and vanished completely into the shadows.
