By the time Micah woke, it was already late at night.
Theoret's welcome party for the new students had long since ended. Only a few staff members remained in the E5 Teaching Building, finishing the cleanup.
What happened?
Micah shook his head. Having just regained consciousness, he was clearly still dazed.
A few seconds later, however, everything came back to him.
2567!
That demon!
The instant the memories returned, Micah began trembling uncontrollably.
He staggered to his feet and shuffled outside in a daze.
Before he reached the door, however, a voice stopped him.
"Micah."
"You woke up just in time."
"If you hadn't woken up, I would have had to resort to special measures."
The neatly dressed Stalnt appeared before Micah.
"Get lost."
Micah snapped irritably.
"I'd love to, but..."
"I'm not here by choice."
Stalnt shrugged with a wry smile.
"What do you mean?"
Micah asked with a frown.
"2567 became the head student."
Stalnt said.
"Yeah, that was inevitable."
Micah wasn't surprised at all. Given the strength 2567 had displayed, it would have been strange if he hadn't become the head student.
But when Stalnt delivered the next piece of news, Micah's eyes widened.
"The two of us have become his deputies."
"What did you say?"
"I said we've become his deputies. 2567 appointed us personally."
"Why would he do that?"
"Probably because we left an impression on him. Or... we're the only two new students he 'knows.'"
The wry smile on Stalnt's lips grew even more bitter.
Becoming the head student's deputy was hardly good news for someone who already had a goal and a detailed plan to achieve it.
Everyone knew that the head student's deputies had to spend enormous amounts of time and energy helping the head student supervise and manage their entire year.
