The ambushers from earlier were being held here separately.
Stacks of interrogation records lay on a table outside. With Tairs's permission, Qin Ran sat there and read through them carefully.
About five minutes later, Qin Ran raised his head and looked at Tairs.
"Pale Reno stumbled upon them by accident?"
"Do you believe that?"
Qin Ran asked.
"No."
"But judging by the traces we just examined at the scene, they weren't lying."
The good-natured professor shook his head, confusion showing on his face.
"Of course they weren't lying. But Pale Reno was attacked and landed right in front of them. I only want to ask... who was that attacker?"
"Why did he do it?"
Qin Ran continued.
"I don't know."
"I've thought through every possibility I could."
"But none of them can explain the situation before us."
The good-natured professor gave a bitter laugh and shook his head again.
Qin Ran said nothing, merely looking calmly at the good-natured professor. After just one second, the professor raised his hands in surrender.
"All right, there's one possibility that could explain it."
"But I find that possibility so hard to believe, so..."
"When only one answer remains, however impossible it seems, it must be the truth."
"Pale Reno certainly didn't come here to visit me!"
"Although we never confronted each other directly, he must hate me for the information I leaked. So he probably came here to take revenge on me."
"And the person who attacked him clearly didn't want anything to happen to me."
"Of course, he wasn't acting out of kindness, either."
"He probably thought keeping me alive here would draw more attention, wouldn't you say?"
"Just like right now!"
Qin Ran interrupted the good-natured professor and turned his gaze toward a guard inside the interrogation
