Screech!
The tires scraped against the pavement, raising the smell of scorched rubber as Sheriff Pudek, his head wrapped in bandages, stepped out of the police car with his assistant.
Pudek's expression was grim, his eyes burning with anger.
Yes, he hated boring days.
But if boring days meant peace, he wouldn't mind. At most, he would grumble a little, much like people who complained about being bored while blissfully lounging on their sofas.
But now?
There had been four bombings since that morning.
One had even happened in a crowded shopping mall.
"What the hell does that bastard want?"
"Is he trying to provoke us?"
After pushing through the panicked crowd, the assistant spoke through gritted teeth.
The young assistant kept scanning his surroundings, as though hoping to spot the culprit behind this series of bombings among the crowd.
His textbooks had mentioned more than once that criminals sometimes returned to the scene.
"Provoke us?"
"You think too highly of us. We're not the ones he's trying to provoke."
"And another thing..."
"You need to put what you've learned from books into practice. Don't just watch the people around you. Question the first officers on the scene as quickly as possible, too. They often have unexpected leads."
Even in his anger, Pudek didn't forget to instruct his assistant.
The middle-aged sheriff was generous with useful tips for his young assistant, who had such a strong sense of justice.
"Yes, Sheriff."
The assistant nodded.
Watching his assistant run off to one side, Pudek shook his head. He hadn't finished speaking yet.
"Still too young."
With that sigh, Pudek looked up at the shattered window on the mall's fourth floor, then hurried upstairs.
The officer stationed outside the room immediately saluted upon seeing Pudek and gave him a brief account of
