The massive, fat Yuteta Dako walked at the rear, watching the two people ahead of him with a helpless expression.
To be honest, he really wanted no part in anything happening tonight.
Ever since Top Hat had been killed, Yuteta had vaguely sensed something was wrong.
The ensuing gang warfare and the appearance of the War Ghost had only confirmed his premonition.
So Yuteta had obediently holed up in his own hideout.
But things had not gone as he wished.
Just as Yuteta was quietly waiting for dawn, Horne and Stina from the South District had appeared, forcing him to leave his safe hideout.
The closer they got, the more danger Yuteta sensed.
It felt as though he was approaching a dragon's lair, step by step.
Not only was he terrified, he felt as though his breathing might stop.
"My instincts tell me we'd better not go any farther."
"Otherwise, we'll be in danger!"
Yuteta stopped walking.
"Instincts?"
"Did you become one of the Shepherds on instinct?"
The young woman of the pair sneered.
The young female warrior wore leather armor, carried a longsword at her waist, and had her hair tied in a ponytail. She could not stand Yuteta. Whenever she remembered how he had looked when they first met, she wanted to draw her sword and cut him down.
She simply could not imagine how he had become one of the Shepherds.
Had he relied on all that fat?
"Stina!"
The other member of the pair, a middle-aged man, rebuked his companion in displeasure. Wearing glasses and looking like a scholar, he turned to Yuteta and asked, "Is the feeling strong?"
"Very strong!"
"It's like we're heading into a dragon's lair."
"Or like there's a demon up ahead, quietly waiting for us."
Yuteta nodded.
The middle-aged man immediately
