"Treasure?"

The newcomer said nothing, his eyes utterly calm, leaving the Crimson Skull, who had been secretly watching him, somewhat disappointed.

He wanted to see more emotion from this collaborator.

Even a little greed would have done.

Unfortunately...

Sighing inwardly, the Crimson Skull quickened his pace.

This was a corner of the outermost perimeter. Reaching District Jia from here required a considerable journey, as well as crossing a guarded suspension bridge.

Although he had other ways of entering District Jia, this time was different.

He had to do it openly.

Heh.

Openly?

How long had it been since he had even thought of that word?

Let alone put it into practice.

It had been far too long.

So long that it was almost laughable.

Although he was no longer human, either.

For the rest of the journey, the Crimson Skull said nothing, and the newcomer remained equally silent.

An Anomaly and a "human" crossed the outermost perimeter like that, arriving at the outskirts of Wu District: before a hundred-meter-long suspension bridge that swayed as though it might collapse at any moment.

Murky water flowed beneath the bridge. It smelled a little better than the river the newcomer had jumped out of earlier, but its current was far fiercer.

More importantly, enormous shadows occasionally flashed beneath the rushing water.

Clearly, something nasty lurked in the river.

At the far end of the bridge stood an Anomaly dressed entirely in white, right down to the hat.

As though frozen stiff, the Anomaly stared motionlessly at the Crimson Skull and the newcomer on the bridge.

"White General."

The Crimson Skull split his hideous face into a grin and handed over a token.

The White Anomaly silently stepped aside, clearing the gate into Wu District.

"This White General is our collaborators' most loyal guard."
