The Temple of the War God's response came even faster than expected.

After several Nobles' carriages rushed into the small square and they recounted what had happened to the priest stationed at the temple, the furious priest immediately began praying to the War God.

A faint radiance appeared within the Temple of the War God.

The statue representing the War God gathered that radiance.

The War God's statue was not shaped like a human. It was a weapon!

All manner of weapons were piled and crossed together.

There were basic swords, spears, blades, and halberds, as well as more complicated axes, polearms, hooks, and forks. Even flails and meteor hammers were among them. Radiance flowed over those coldly gleaming weapons.

Everyone in Sika City raised their heads.

The neighing of warhorses!

The charge of chariots!

The shouts of warriors!

They came one after another from the sky.

Yet there was no image of warriors driving chariots. There was only a pitch-black, endlessly churning storm cloud.

The storm cloud descended from the heavens and coiled around the radiant Temple of the War God.

A moment later—

Rumble!

Lightning flashed as silver serpents danced.

The tremendous roar made some of the more timid people fall to their knees and pray in low voices.

The Nobles who had delivered the news lay even more devoutly prostrate on the ground.

At least, their outward devotion was genuine.

Quite a few Nobles regretted it inwardly at the sight.

They asked themselves why they had not been the ones to report the news.

If it had been them, they surely would have received enormous rewards afterward, wouldn't they?

Perhaps they might even have become true Knights.

The followers of the Church of Mist were praying as well.
