Three hours later, Qin Ran and Lawless met again at the station outside Harvest Tavern.
"Ready?"
Lawless asked, unable to hide the apology in his tone.
"Of course!"
"But if you could stop looking like you owed me a million, I think I'd be even more prepared!"
Qin Ran said with a smile.
He hoped those words would dispel Lawless's guilt.
He knew what Lawless was thinking: this was Lawless's own business, yet he had dragged a friend into it to face immense danger together.
For Lawless, that was truly difficult to bear and impossible to accept.
But if he let Lawless take the risk alone, Qin Ran would feel just as bad and would not be able to accept it either.
Qin Ran knew what he had to do.
He also knew it would put him in danger.
But all the help Lawless had given him in the past meant he could not simply stand by.

Wasn't that when friends were supposed to show up?

"Fine, I'll shut up!"
Lawless had wanted to say more, but when he saw Qin Ran raise his middle finger, he immediately gave a bitter shrug.
However, Lawless did not actually shut up as he had said he would.
Instead, he pulled out two cigars, lit them in the roughest possible manner with a fuel lighter, and tossed one to Qin Ran.
"Want one?"
"It skips a lot of steps, but it tastes great!"
"Can I refuse?"
Qin Ran looked at the lit cigar in his hand.
Smelling the rich smoke laced with a hint of strong liquor, he was certain that trying a cigar like this was still too early for him.
"Of course not!"
"Try it. You'll like it!"
Lawless said with certainty and emphasis.
