"However, please give me more time. The Mechanical Enforcers will be here any moment-even though I've done everything I can to delay them, I'm almost at my limit!"
"So, I think we should leave for now. What do you say?"
The Broker spoke with a broad smile.
Ji nodded noncommittally, then turned and walked out.
The Broker followed closely under the protection of his Mechanical Legion. When he reached the door, he even remembered to wave goodbye to Rachel.
After her initial question, Rachel hadn't spoken another word.
Not because she didn't want to, but because she couldn't.
Just as when she had held her kitchen knife to the Broker's throat, intending to end his life, a sense of danger spread through her heart.
And that sense of danger was terribly familiar.
Rachel frowned deeply.
Few people could make her feel threatened, and fewer still could make that danger feel familiar.
As far as she knew, none of those people would ever appear here.
Puzzled, Rachel vanished into the shadows.

Inside the dilapidated warehouse that served as Qin Ran's game room.
"This feels so cozy!"
Lawless exclaimed the moment he stepped inside.
Then he found himself a reasonably clean spot to sit and lit a cigar.
"Please don't blatantly describe filth as something so cozy. You'll only make me revise my estimate of how low your standards can go!"
Rachel looked at Lawless irritably.
He shrugged.
Qin Ran didn't mind Rachel's assessment of his room at all. He simply stood quietly to one side, waiting for her explanation.
Earlier, as he had charged desperately toward the Broker's location, she had suddenly appeared in front of him and
