Make the Nightspawn known to everyone!
The thought rose irrepressibly in Qin Ran's mind.
The Nightspawn were difficult to deal with not because they were exceptionally powerful, but because they had ways of concealing themselves that ordinary people could scarcely imagine.
If those methods of concealment were made public...
In an age when flintlock guns existed, the threat posed by the Nightspawn would plummet.
After a little consideration, Qin Ran spoke to the bounty hunters and mercenaries who were still begging for mercy before him.
"Nightspawn are monsters that can assume anyone's appearance at will and feed on humans!"
"They fear pain because it prevents them from maintaining their human forms. Their bodies are stronger than those of ordinary people, and their skin can even withstand blows from ordinary swords!"
"And now, they have infiltrated your ranks, preying on you from time to time. Think back-have you ever failed a mission that should have been a sure thing? Has anyone mysteriously disappeared during a mission? Have any of your companions started feeling like strangers?"
Qin Ran did not explicitly say anything like "work together to fight the Nightspawn."
He knew perfectly well that expecting unity from a group of bounty hunters and mercenaries who kept company with corpses and were called vultures and coyotes was unrealistic.
These people were selfish. They cared only about themselves.
To enlist their strength, he could only approach matters from their perspective.
Qin Ran swept his gaze over the people before him, watching their expressions change at his words. Without saying anything more, he turned and walked toward Ratt.
Too much was as bad as too little.
Qin Ran had learned that long ago.
"I think we need to talk!"
That was what Qin Ran said.
"Of course!"
Ratt nodded.
The carriage set off again.
