Bang! Bang! Bang!
The moment Qin Ran rushed out from cover, a barrage of gunfire erupted from the rooftop across the street.
But beneath the night sky, Qin Ran moved like the nimblest of cats, his footwork agile and his body swift.
Bullets repeatedly grazed past him and struck the ground, kicking up sprays of dirt and sand as though they were chasing his footsteps, yet they ultimately found nothing.
E- Agility, Mastery-level [Dodge], and the special effect [Mastery of Agile Footwork] allowed Qin Ran to display waltz-like elegance against a group of enemies with substandard marksmanship.
Amid the stunned stares of those around him, Qin Ran easily scooped up the fallen police officer and rolled several times in succession, returning to the cover where Lestrade was.
"He needs a doctor!"
Qin Ran handed the officer with the injured leg over to his colleague and smiled faintly under the other man's grateful gaze.
Within the limits of his ability, Qin Ran did not mind helping those on the same side.
"Th-thank you!"
Lestrade said haltingly.
Then, without waiting for Qin Ran to react, he turned and glared viciously at the two-story building where Shuberk was.
If it had not been for those explosives, how could he have been so embarrassed that he had actually thanked an "amateur"?
Although his gratitude was sincere, that did not stop Lestrade from hating scum like Shuberk.
In fact, if the other side had not suddenly acquired those explosives, Lestrade would have taken them down from the start instead of calling for backup.
Even now, with Chief John's reinforcements on the way, Lestrade was not sure whether they could take down Shuberk in the building across from them.
After all, the enemy's firepower was simply too strong!
"Do we have to call in the army?"
The thought arose in Lestrade's mind, and instinctively, he wanted to reject it.
But reason told him that it was the best option.
"If we do that, every police officer here will lose all face!"
Lestrade's eyes darkened.
He could already imagine the newspapers attacking them for their "incompetence" tomorrow.
"Damn it!"
Lestrade slammed his fist into the ground, his face full of frustration.
"Things haven't gotten bad enough for us to give up yet!"
Qin Ran spoke, looking at Lestrade as he raised his head.
"Deputy Chief, if possible, I hope you can tell me the details about the situation across the street!"
"Maybe I have a way to deal with it!"
Qin Ran's words sounded modest, but his tone carried immense confidence.
"You..."
Lestrade instinctively wanted to mock this "amateur" for overestimating himself, but remembering how Qin Ran had saved him and his subordinates, the sarcastic words never left his mouth.
Still, deep down, he did not believe Qin Ran had any solution.
Even though Qin Ran had displayed exceptional Shooting skills earlier.
The current situation was not something that could be solved with good marksmanship alone.
Qin Ran easily saw through the other man's thoughts.
The deputy chief before him was not someone skilled at concealing his expressions.
And people like that were usually easy to deal with.
He just needed to find the right approach!
"Have you lost even the courage to give it a try?"
Smiling, Qin Ran spoke again.
This time, Qin Ran's words rapidly reddened the hot-tempered Lestrade's face. He took a deep breath and began speaking bluntly.
"So what if I tell you!"
"Do you really think you can solve something that more than a dozen of us couldn't?"
"Shuberk has at least twenty men over there,
Every one of them has a gun. We don't know how many explosives they have, but judging by the situation, there must be at least a hundred sticks! And that bastard has barricaded all the doors and windows on the first and second floors. If we want to get in, we have to go through the roof!"
"Damn it, if I find out who gave that guy his supply route, I'll crush that bastard's balls!"
As he spoke, the deputy chief angrily punched the ground again.
"At least twenty people, all armed? An unknown number of explosives?"
Qin Ran narrowed his eyes. As he listened to the deputy chief's account, he calculated inwardly while studying the building across the street.
Under the moonlight, the night did not cause Qin Ran much trouble. He could easily see the situation opposite them—the Shuberk men who had fired earlier had returned inside to reload, while three more men carrying loaded guns appeared on the roof.
One of them was even holding an unlit homemade explosive.
Looking at the three Shuberk men who had suddenly appeared, as well as the unlit homemade explosive—
An idea suddenly surfaced in Qin Ran's mind.
"Deputy Chief, can you handle one of the men on the rooftop across from us?"
Qin Ran asked.
"Of course, but there are still two left!"
"I'll take care of the other two!"
"And I have a pretty good idea!"
"It looks like they have plenty of explosives! And with that many explosives... all it takes is one spark for them to go boom and fly into the sky!"
Qin Ran cut him off and stated his plan.
"Are you insane?"
"Do you know what you're saying?"
The deputy chief immediately shook his head upon hearing Qin Ran's plan.
In his view, it was utterly impossible.
Not to mention the wide street, the height of that two-story building alone was enough for anyone attempting to climb it to be riddled with bullets by the men on the roof.
"Of course I do!"
"And do you think there's a better option right now besides letting me try?"
"Or are you planning to become everyone's laughingstock?"
Qin Ran spoke with a smile as he looked at him.
"Fine!"
"But this is entirely your voluntary action. It has nothing to do with us!"
The deputy chief gritted his teeth.
"Of course!"
Qin Ran was not surprised that Lestrade had agreed to his proposal.
Although they had known each other only briefly, Qin Ran had already gained a general understanding of the man, who was poor at hiding his emotions.
"Then... let's begin!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Qin Ran rolled out of cover. The [M1905] in his left hand and the [Venom-M1] in his right rose at the same time, then fired almost simultaneously.
Bang, bang!
Bang!
After two consecutive gunshots, a third shot immediately followed.
Lestrade was not much slower than Qin Ran.
The two men fired three shots, and all three hit their targets.
However, Lestrade was once again astonished by Qin Ran's ability to fire simultaneously and hit simultaneously.
In truth, Qin Ran had not fired at exactly the same time.
There had still been a slight sequence to the shots.
But the difference was tiny and the speed was extremely fast, so to Lestrade, it naturally appeared as if Qin Ran had fired both guns at once.
"Cover me!"
Qin Ran said to Lestrade.
After saying that, he set the [Venom-M1] on the ground and sprinted toward the two-story building.
Lestrade immediately grabbed a gun from one of his subordinates and aimed it at the roof.
But the next sight before him caused his gun barrel to involuntarily tilt aside.
He clearly saw Qin Ran race across the street at a speed faster than anyone Lestrade had ever known. Then Qin Ran leaped high into the air and climbed onto the second-floor balcony like a monkey, using both hands and feet.
The entire process took less than three seconds!
At that moment, two more of Shuberk's men appeared on the roof.
His surprise did not make Lestrade forget his task.
The instant the two Shuberk men appeared, he fired.
"Cover him!"
The deputy chief shouted. Without even having time to reload, he snatched up another gun from a subordinate beside him, already loaded, and fired across the street.
The other police officers also saw Qin Ran's movement and heard the deputy chief's shout. Without hesitation, they all provided support.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Amid the barrage of gunfire, the two Shuberk men who had just appeared were shot dead on the roof.
Taking advantage of that opportunity, Qin Ran climbed onto the roof and surveyed its condition.
The roof boards had long been torn away, exposing a huge opening. Two ladders stood side by side, allowing Shuberk's men to enter and exit.
Qin Ran saw Shuberk's men inside the room.
Naturally, Shuberk's men also saw Qin Ran.
"Kill that guy!"
A shout came from inside the room.
Immediately afterward, Shuberk's men inside raised their guns and fired at where Qin Ran stood.
The instant they fired, Qin Ran rolled away.
At the same time, with his plan already in place, Qin Ran did not hesitate in the slightest. A [-II] grenade appeared in his hand, and after pulling the pin, he threw it into the room.
Then Qin Ran swiftly got up and raced across the rooftop at full speed, leaping toward another roof seven or eight meters away.
Besides Shuberk's men, he had also seen an opened crate of homemade explosives that was more than half used up—just as he had expected, there was a large quantity of explosives in the room.
The grenade would certainly set off those homemade explosives!
If he remained on the roof when that happened, he would simply be courting death.
Boom!
Just as Qin Ran landed on the opposite rooftop and rolled repeatedly to disperse the force, a massive explosion erupted behind him. The irresistible blast sent his body rolling farther across the roof.
And in that instant of rolling, Qin Ran could clearly see that the two-story building where Shuberk and his men had been had completely become a burning torch.
The enormous, dazzling flames lit up half the night sky.
The firelight illuminated the astonished faces of Lestrade and his subordinates in the distance.
They stared at the scene before them in disbelief.
Qin Ran had succeeded?
Qin Ran had succeeded!
No one knew who began cheering first, but everyone around them soon erupted into cheers.
Even Lestrade wore an unmistakable smile.
Then, in the next moment, they all remembered the greatest contributor to resolving the incident. Seeing that Qin Ran had not stood up for a long time, they shouted and hurried toward the rooftop where he had landed.
