"What else did you find?"
Teresa asked, staring into Qin Ran's eyes.
While Boskin had been inspecting the house, the sheriff hadn't been idle either. She had thoroughly searched it inside and out, including an underground storeroom.
She had found absolutely nothing.
Yet she wasn't surprised that Qin Ran had found something.
Deep down, she even felt that this was only natural.
But that thought made the fiercely competitive sheriff uncomfortable.
She believed she ought to act tougher in front of Qin Ran.
It wasn't directed at Qin Ran, just at men.
Just as men naturally held some degree of prejudice toward women in equivalent positions, women who had achieved something would also look down on men.
It wasn't a matter of having a nasty personality.
It was simply the innate instinct of rivalry between men and women.
Naturally, Qin Ran knew nothing of the sheriff's thoughts.
Or rather, even if he had known, he wouldn't have cared.
In Qin Ran's eyes, completing his mission was what mattered.
As for anything else?
He wouldn't act against any native who didn't stand in the way of his mission.
Ignoring the sheriff's stare, Qin Ran activated [Tracking], walked straight into the ground-floor bedroom, and flipped up the rather shabby cot, exposing the wooden floor.
Thud, thud, thud!
After tapping a few times, Qin Ran singled out one of the boards.
He pulled out its nails with the serrated edge of the [Torturer's Knife], then lifted the board.
A corner of a backpack immediately appeared before Teresa and Boskin.
With his target in sight, Qin Ran picked up the pace.
Creak!
Bang!
Without using the [Torturer's Knife] again, he tore off the surrounding nailed-down boards with his bare hands. When he encountered a board whose nails had rusted fast, he simply smashed it
