Saint Ryd Hospital had been full to capacity an hour ago.
More and more injured people were still being brought in. The entire hospital lobby echoed with their groans, while doctors and nurses rushed about without their feet touching the ground.
Though these vicious-looking people usually inspired instinctive fear, at this moment they were merely injured patients, no different from ordinary ones.
"Doctor, all the wards are full!"
"The lobby!"
"Set up temporary wards in the lobby!"
"Notify the doctors and nurses who have gotten off work. Get them back here immediately—we need their help!"
The doctor on duty spoke as he strode into the lobby and began arranging the temporary wards.
The nurse beside him kept helping out.
Just as more orderlies began pushing over one mobile bed after another, the sound of a circuit breaker tripping suddenly rang out.

When the backup generator started up and drove away the darkness, the busy people in the lobby immediately saw a masked orderly standing helplessly beside the Statue of Sister Reed. The statue had shattered into fragments of varying sizes.
"I-I didn't do it on purpose!"
"The power suddenly went out, and it happened too fast. I-I was pushing a mobile bed and hit the statue..."
The orderly explained himself, his stammering words revealing his nervousness.
By the end, he could not say another word.
Only the groans of the injured awaiting placement remained in the lobby.
"What are you all standing around for?"
"Keep setting up the wards!"
"Merciful Sister Reed will forgive any mistake made in the course of saving lives, even if her statue was shattered!"
