Fish-Man Karate looked like a martial art, but it was actually a means of controlling water.
Even on land without an ocean, or in the desert, Fish-Man Karate could attack by compressing moisture in the air or underground, or even by manipulating the water inside an opponent's body.
This stemmed from the Fish-Men's innate affinity for water, but humans could learn it too. Koala of the Revolutionary Army had mastered it in the story.
If even ordinary people could master it, then for Mobius, who now possessed water-controlling abilities in his Flood Dragon Form, it came naturally.
Moisture in the air was drawn in layer by layer, transforming into waves of shockwaves that hurtled straight toward Jinbe.
Caught off guard, Jinbe could only instinctively assume the defensive stance he had used before.
The shockwave from Arabesque Brick Fist struck him squarely. An intense piercing sensation hit him, and Jinbe's defense was immediately breached as his chest tightened.
Pain pierced through his body. Jinbe felt his organs twist, blood spilling from his mouth.
He staggered a few steps before steadying himself. Taking a deep breath, his eyes were filled with astonishment.
"An ability user?"
Jinbe was puzzled. He had heard that Devil Fruit abilities came in all manner of strange forms, but what kind of power was this?
It should have been a Zoan Fruit, but this display of water control... How was that possible?
"Of course."
Mobius admitted it openly, a smile curling across his lips. This Fish-Man Karate was far more useful than he had imagined~
"Can you still hold on?"
With the enhancement of a Zoan Devil Fruit, Mobius's physical attributes had been raised to an incredible level. Even as a Fish-Man, Jinbe was far behind him.
Once the gap in their basic abilities had widened, fighting became incredibly easy.
Even in the simplest head-on clash, Mobius could crush Jinbe from the front.
But that would have been meaningless. Mobius wanted to see Jinbe's techniques.
In the distance, Hatchan, who had been watching the battle, nearly had his eyes pop out.
He had thought Jinbe's talent was already the greatest on Fish-Man Island. He never expected Mister Mobius to be even stronger.
Could someone really learn Fish-Man Karate after seeing it just once?
Hatchan's feelings were complicated. He had always taken pride in this art and wanted to see it flourish...
Led by Shark Star, the three princes of Ryugu Palace wore expressions of utter admiration. Children their age were at the height of their competitive spirit.
As the strongest member of Neptune's Army, Jinbe had always been the object of their admiration. Yet Mobius had now suppressed Jinbe with ease.
How could the three princes not feel awed?
Jinbe wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth. When he looked at Mobius again, the respect in his eyes had grown even stronger.
"Not only are you wise, but your strength is unexpectedly formidable as well~"
After that sigh, Jinbe's fighting spirit only surged higher. His fists clenched once more.
"Please let me see the gap between us, Mobius!"
Mobius nodded and said, "Then please let me see the essence of Fish-Man Karate and Fish-Man Jujutsu as well, Jinbe."
"Of course!"
Jinbe laughed loudly, relaxing his entire body as the moisture around him began to surge at his command.
A huge ball of heavy water visibly formed in Jinbe's hand.
The instant the water ball formed, Mobius's vision seemed to shift and blur slightly.
Mobius could tell that his vision itself had not been affected. Rather, within that ball of heavy water, a shockwave comparable to a tidal vortex was gathering.
Fish-Man Karate: Secret Art: Buraikan!
With a loud shout, Jinbe closed in instantly. The fist-sized water ball expanded, and a volcanic eruption of violent impact surged forward.
Mobius's body trembled. In his Flood Dragon Form, his control over water warned him that this attack possessed unparalleled penetrating force.
Even with the Steel Balloon talent, he would be driven back and pierced through by this blow!
He extended his arm. Scales armored it, savage claw tips emerging as danger spread through the air.
Facing the heavy water ball's impact head-on, Mobius thrust out his claw, unleashing his own control over water.
Flood Dragon: Dragon-Raising Plaque!
Boom!
For an instant, all of Ryugu Palace seemed to tremble.
!
In his bedroom, Neptune woke with a start. His enormous body rose, his face filled with alarm.
"What happened?"
Known as the Great Knight of the Sea, Neptune was not a gold-tier or silver-tier powerhouse, but he was still a renowned figure on Fish-Man Island.
A tremendous sense of danger had just reached him, reminding him of battles between old friends from long ago.
Could people from the World Government have come!?
Neptune shuddered. Otohime, beside the bed, woke as well. Opening her sleepy eyes, she asked in confusion, "What's wrong, darling?"
"It's nothing. I just got up too suddenly."
Neptune smiled reassuringly. After coaxing the still-drowsy Otohime back to sleep, he slowly climbed out of bed.
The moment he stepped outside, he summoned an attendant and asked, "What's going on?"
The attendant was well informed, since neither of the two sparring fighters had concealed their whereabouts.
"Lord Jinbe and Lord Mobius are having a sparring match, Your Majesty."
"A... sparring match?"
Neptune was blank for a moment, then could not help but smile.
This was a good thing!
At the training ground, Mobius moved his hands, carefully reflecting on the experience he had gained from fighting Jinbe.
Fish-Man Karate used water for impact—either condensing it around the fist, using droplets as bullets, or even as cannonballs.
Fish-Man Jujutsu, meanwhile, used water for throws. Water currents, ocean waves, human bodies, even a cup of black tea could all be thrown.
At its core, this art was simply a way of applying one's own physical attributes. The stronger one was, the stronger the techniques produced by these two arts became.
Like an utterly ordinary straight punch.
What Mobius valued, naturally, was how these two arts used water.
Although his Flood Dragon Form gave him the ability to control water, water as an element needed to reach a certain mass to possess sufficient power.
Golden Lion's Float-Float Fruit could also control water, but that did not make it invincible against ability users.
In the story, Luffy and Zoro from two years ago had joined forces to disperse the Water Gods, which had been enough to cover all of Water 7.
Not to mention the truly powerful fighters.
After secretly learning Jinbe's techniques, Mobius felt that his water-control skill had risen by at least two full skill points.
Returning to human form, Mobius quickly walked over to the exhausted Jinbe, who lay sprawled on the ground, and held out his hand.
"You okay?"
Jinbe looked up, gave a bitter smile, and grabbed Mobius's hand.
"My body is fine, but I'm exhausted."
His strongest attack had been destroyed by a single claw from Mobius. Worse, its force had even been turned against him, the shockwave striking his own body.
After that, no matter how Jinbe postured, whether he used water as gunfire, a straight fist, or throwing techniques, Mobius blocked every one of them.
Mobius had not intended to finish Jinbe off either. He had merely suppressed him slowly with punches and kicks, stopping only when Jinbe no longer had the strength to fight.
"Thank you. I learned a great deal. Fish-Men truly are a powerful race~"
Mobius's praise was sincere, but it only made Jinbe smile bitterly again.
He was nearly exhausted, while Mobius looked completely unaffected. Who was the powerful one here?
After recovering a little, Jinbe looked at Mobius and could not help asking:
"Mobius, may I ask..."
"You can drop the 'Mister,' Jinbe."
"Then..." Jinbe opened his mouth, but still asked, "Mister Mobius, what kind of ability user are you?"
"Oh, that."
Mobius smiled, preparing to reveal a little of the truth.
"Royal Advisor!"
But at that moment, a rough voice interrupted their discussion. Neptune had arrived.
