Old Wilson fixed his gaze on Ogdin.
Ogdin also raised his head. Feeling Old Wilson's berserk aura, he glanced faintly at Baron Wengulit on the ground, a trace of dejection then appearing on his face as he said in a low voice, "Wilson, I am no match for you."
Ogdin knew very well that Old Wilson could heavily injure Wengulit, who excelled in defense, with a single blow. Ogdin himself could not do that; he was already far inferior to Old Wilson now.
At that moment, the sound of footsteps came from outside again, and several knights rushed in swiftly. They were the knights brought by Old Wilson, while the other Heavy Armored Knights were still locked in combat with the knights of the City Defense Corps outside.
One of the knights quickly approached Old Wilson and said in a low voice, "Baron, the City Defense Corps knights are gathering in greater numbers by the moment. We need to leave as soon as possible."
Old Wilson naturally understood in his heart that the City Lord's Manor was no place to linger, yet before leaving, he would not let Ogdin off easily.
"Ogdin, you colluded with the Church and wanted to put me to death! Now, I'll give you a chance: pick up your sword and fight me fair and square. Defeat me, and I can spare your life!"
Old Wilson spoke in a deep voice. He and Ogdin had always been hailed as the strongest powerhouses in Blackwater City, yet they had never crossed swords. Still, Old Wilson held absolute confidence in himself.
Ogdin looked at Old Wilson, his voice also turning icy as he spoke in a low, heavy tone, "Wilson, if you don't leave now, I'm afraid you'll never be able to leave at all!"
"Haha, Ogdin, who can stop me now? You? Or your City Defense Corps knights?"
The aura around Old Wilson grew even more immense, vaguely pressing down toward Ogdin, and fierce flames flickered upon the greatsword in his hand.
"Pick up your sword, Ogdin!"
Standing before Ogdin, Old Wilson's robust figure was like a shadow that blanketed Ogdin entirely. Without the slightest hesitation, Old Wilson swung his greatsword and slashed straight down.
The berserk flames grated against the air, emitting a strange, hissing sound with a startling momentum.
Ogdin's expression turned somewhat pale. At this point, he could no longer afford not to fight, so he hurriedly raised his greatsword as well. Raging flames burst forth from the blade; just like Old Wilson, he was an Elemental Swordsman.
"Clang."
The two men, once jointly hailed as the top experts of Blackwater City, now clashed head-on. Their berserk flames intertwined and scattered directly in all directions.
Ogdin staggered back several steps, the greatsword in his hand actually covered in cracks and incapable of withstanding any further impact.
Old Wilson, however, stood unmoving. The outcome was decided!
"Ogdin, you're too weak... Back then, how high-spirited were you? Over these years, you've cast cultivation aside for the sake of this city lord's seat. You've disappointed me too much!"
Old Wilson shook his head, deeply disappointed in Ogdin. Back then, he and Ogdin had been hailed together as the two top experts of Blackwater City, evenly matched. Yet more than a decade had passed, and Old Wilson had grown far, far stronger than Ogdin.
"Die!"
Old Wilson had no intention of letting Ogdin go. He raised his greatsword high, the flames on the blade seemingly intensifying and radiating a searing heat that caused several nearby knights to feel a burning sensation.
Ogdin could not possibly block this sword strike!
The greatsword slashed swiftly toward Ogdin, its immense pressure bearing down upon him. The once high-spirited city lord now lacked even the courage to raise his greatsword, quietly closing his eyes as he awaited the arrival of death!
"Thud."
With a muffled sound, Old Wilson's expression shifted slightly. His greatsword did not cut Ogdin down; instead, a dazzling ball of white light blocked the path beside Ogdin.
This mere ball of white light actually forced Old Wilson back several steps, causing his heavy black armor to emit a creaking sound. Clearly, the rebound force a moment ago was immense.
"Who is it?"
Old Wilson gazed forward with vigilance. Behind Ogdin, a middle-aged man had appeared out of nowhere, dressed in a pristine white robe with a conspicuous silver cross-sword embroidered upon his chest.
"Mage Jason!"
Upon seeing the white-robed man, a trace of joy surfaced on Ogdin's face. He had almost forgotten just moments ago that Mage Jason from the Church was holding down the fort here.
Ogdin knew little about Mage Jason, only vaguely understanding that Mage Jason was a person possessing miraculous powers who could easily defeat Elemental Swordsman.
Even an evil heretic who had once appeared in Blackwater City was no match for Mage Jason.
Therefore, the moment Mage Jason appeared, Ogdin felt as though he had grasped at a straw, feeling immensely excited.
"A mage from the Inquisition?"
Old Wilson's tone was heavy. He saw the silver cross-sword embroidered on Mage Jason's white robe—a symbol he was quite familiar with. Back at the Slaughterhouse, he had seen many people in such attire; they were mages from the most mysterious Inquisition within the Light Church.
The mages of the Church were existences capable of battling those powerful spellcasters in the Black Moon Kingdom! The ball of white light just now must have been a spell cast by Mage Jason before him.
"Baron Wilson, as someone who survived the Slaughterhouse, you should know very well just how powerful our Church is. Lay down your weapons. If you possess a pious heart and take the initiative to believe in the God of Light, you will still be a child of God!"
Mage Jason's expression was very calm, and his body seemed imbued with an approachable aura that made people feel exceptionally warm and peaceful.
"The gods do not incite you to commit outrages!"
Old Wilson raised his greatsword once again, his aura growing even more powerful. The raging flames seemed on the verge of breaking through a critical threshold—this was Old Wilson having reached the peak of a Level-Two Flame Swordsman, ready to break through to Level Three at any moment.
Mage Jason shook his head slightly, his tone detached and still very calm as he spoke, "Wilson, your soul has fallen. By setting yourself against the gods, your soul shall never find rest!"
With that, Mage Jason reached out a fair hand, brilliant white light beginning to emanate from his body as he chanted in a soft voice.
"Whoosh, whoosh."
Ball after ball of light smashed directly toward Old Wilson at tremendous speed, leaving Old Wilson entirely overwhelmed. Furthermore, these white-light orbs possessed immense impact force; every time they slammed viciously into Old Wilson's black armor, they caused the astonishingly defensive armor to emit waves of creaking, strange sounds.
This demonstrated that even armor with astonishing defense was struggling to endure the blows of Mage Jason's spells and would shatter at any moment. Once the armor shattered, no matter how exceptional Old Wilson's physical fitness might be, he would utterly fail to withstand Mage Jason's powerful spell attacks.
In merely a brief moment, Old Wilson, who had just held the absolute upper hand, saw the situation take a drastic turn for the worse following Mage Jason's appearance, placing Old Wilson in a precarious and perilous plight once again.
