Bloodline Curse

Ian had come to see Solair today to deal with the Bloodline Curse afflicting her second daughter, Astoria Greengrass.

Over the past few months, through his deep understanding of the Life Code and his research using Astoria's blood samples, Ian had not only discovered the cause of the Bloodline Curse but also found a way to remove it.

According to Ian's research, the so-called Bloodline Curse was actually a powerful curse deeply rooted in the "bloodline" portion of the Life Code. This curse would be passed down from generation to generation, eventually erupting in one particular generation as time passed.

Although the curse sounded extremely powerful, and even seemed almost impossible to cure, that was not actually the case. At least within the Greengrass Lineage, the curse was not as powerful as people imagined.

The curse had remained dormant for several hundred years before reappearing in Astoria's generation. Ian's research revealed that the curse needed to rely on the passage of many years, gradually absorbing magic from different members of the Greengrass Lineage before it could finally manifest.

However, it was precisely this characteristic of "long-term accumulation" that had piqued Ian's interest. The fact that a curse could be cast through the bloodline as a medium made him extremely curious. More importantly, the fact that this curse could survive for so long was truly astonishing.

Ian stood beside Astoria's bed, with Solair standing quietly at his side. Ian first gave Astoria a potion he had personally concocted. The potion's purpose was to separate the curse within her body from her Life Code.

Then Ian pointed at Astoria and softly recited the incantation, "Resero Codexvita." At once, Astoria's Life Code appeared before Ian's eyes. He began examining it carefully.

He saw the potion begin battling the curse inside her. Although the curse displayed tremendous resistance at first, its power soon began to weaken.

The potion's formula was based on unicorns. Unicorns were exceptionally pure creatures, and they strongly abhorred dark magic and curses. Thus, after a brief resistance, the potion began to take effect, isolating the curse from Astoria's body.

Ian immediately waved his wand and recited another incantation. The curse began to be expelled from her body. However, the process did not go as smoothly as he had expected.

Astoria's body began to tremble violently, and a pained expression appeared on her face. Suddenly, a black image emerged from her body. It was a goat-headed monster radiating intense killing intent from within the darkness.

The goat-headed monster seemed to sense the threat posed by Ian's magic. It struggled desperately, attempting to return to Astoria's body, but Ian did not stop what he was doing. He knew that this goat-headed creature was the tangible manifestation of the Bloodline Curse of the Greengrass Lineage.

"This is the embodiment of the Bloodline Curse of the Greengrass Lineage." Ian frowned and muttered, a complicated look flashing through his eyes.

The goat-headed monster resisted with all its might, emitting a low, hoarse roar. However, Ian had no intention of letting it go. Since this was the curse's true form, he had to remove it completely and could not allow it to continue affecting Astoria's body.

Finally, after a fierce struggle, the goat-headed monster was completely expelled. Ian placed it inside a specially made alchemical container. He had developed a deep interest in this curse, especially in how it was so closely connected to the bloodline.

"Will she be all right?" Solair asked worriedly.

"She'll be weak for a few days, but she'll recover soon." Ian's gaze remained calm. "However, keep an eye on her condition. If anything unusual happens, report it to me immediately."

Solair nodded, sat down beside Astoria's bed, and gently stroked her hair.

"How do you plan to tell your husband?" Ian suddenly asked.

"Tell him what?" Solair asked, somewhat confused.

"That the curse afflicting her has been removed."

"He probably won't notice." A trace of helplessness colored Solair's voice. "He may not even have realized that she once had such a curse."

However, Solair had clearly underestimated the curse's influence.

When Ian completely removed the curse from Astoria, the head of the Greengrass Lineage—Jamison Greengrass—immediately sensed the change. After all, the curse was intimately connected to the bloodline of the Greengrass Lineage. As a direct descendant of the family, Jamison had once borne the curse as well. Fortunately, it had not been activated in his generation, instead erupting in Astoria's.

This meant that Jamison and Solair were certain to have a serious conversation that night. None of this had anything to do with Ian, and he had no intention of involving himself in their family dispute.

Even if Jamison discovered him, Ian would not be afraid. After all, not only was his magical strength powerful enough, but the political and economic power of the Bones family throughout Europe also made anyone wary of provoking them lightly.

After returning home, Ian entered a huge room with a world map hanging in the center. He raised his wand, pointed it at the enormous map, and said softly, "Quirinus Quirrell."
