Bloodline Curse

Lin An had come to see Solair today to deal with the Bloodline Curse afflicting her second daughter, Astoria Greengrass.

Over the past few months, through his deep understanding of the Life Code and research using Astoria's blood samples, Lin An had not only uncovered the cause of the Bloodline Curse but also found a way to lift it.

According to Lin An's research, the so-called Bloodline Curse was actually a powerful curse deeply rooted in the "bloodline section" of the Life Code. This curse would be passed down through generations and would eventually erupt in a certain generation as time went by.

Although this curse sounded incredibly powerful, even seemingly incurable, that was not actually the case. At least within the Greengrass Lineage, this curse was not as powerful as people imagined.

The curse had lain dormant for the past several centuries, only resurfacing in Astoria's generation. Lin An's research revealed that it needed to rely on the passage of many years, gradually absorbing magic from different members of the Greengrass Lineage before it could finally manifest.

Yet it was precisely this trait of "long accumulation" that intrigued Lin An. The ability to use bloodlines as a medium for a curse made him deeply curious. More importantly, the fact that this curse could survive for so long was truly astonishing.

Lin An stood by Astoria's bed, while Solair stood quietly beside him. He first gave Astoria a potion he had personally brewed. Its purpose was to isolate the curse within her from her Life Code.

Then Lin An pointed at Astoria and softly recited, "Resero Codexvita." Immediately, Astoria's Life Code appeared before his eyes. He began to observe it carefully.

He saw the potion begin to contend with the curse inside her. Though the curse still showed powerful resistance at first, its strength soon began to weaken.

The potion's formula was based on unicorns. Unicorns were exceptionally pure creatures and intensely repulsed by Dark Magic and curses. So, after a brief struggle, the potion began to take effect, isolating the curse from Astoria's body.

Lin An immediately waved his wand and recited a new spell. The curse began to be removed from her body. However, the process did not go as smoothly as he had expected.

Astoria's body began to tremble violently, and pain spread across her face. Suddenly, a black apparition emerged from her body: a goat-headed monster, radiating intense killing intent from within the darkness.

The goat-headed monster seemed to sense the threat from Lin An's magic. It struggled desperately, attempting to return to Astoria's body, but Lin An did not stop. He knew that this goat head was the physical manifestation of the Greengrass Lineage's Bloodline Curse.

"This is the incarnation of the Greengrass Lineage's Bloodline Curse," Lin An muttered with a frown, a complicated glint flashing through his eyes.

The goat-headed monster resisted with all its might, letting out deep hisses. However, Lin An had no intention of letting it go. Since this was the curse's true body, he had to remove it completely and could not allow it to keep affecting Astoria's body.

Finally, after an intense struggle, the goat-headed monster was completely removed. Lin An placed it inside a specially made alchemical container. He had developed a strong interest in this curse, especially in how closely it was connected to the bloodline.

"Will she be all right?" Solair asked, her face full of worry.

"She'll be weak for a few days, but she'll recover soon." Lin An's gaze remained calm. "Still, keep a close eye on her condition. If anything unusual happens, report it to me immediately."

Solair nodded, sat beside Astoria's bed, and gently stroked her hair.

"How do you plan to tell your husband?" Lin An suddenly asked.

"Tell him what?" Solair looked somewhat confused.

"That the curse on her has been lifted."

"He probably won't notice." Solair's tone carried a trace of helplessness. "He may not have even realized she ever had such a curse."

However, Solair had clearly underestimated the curse's influence.

The moment Lin An completely removed the curse from Astoria, the head of the Greengrass Lineage—Jamison Greengrass—immediately sensed the change. After all, this curse was intimately tied to the Greengrass Lineage's bloodline. As a direct descendant of the family, Jamison had once borne this curse as well. Fortunately, it had not activated in his generation, instead erupting in Astoria's generation.

That meant Jamison and Solair were bound to have a serious conversation tonight. None of this had anything to do with Lin An, and he had no intention of taking part in their family dispute.

Even if Jamison discovered him, Lin An would not be afraid. After all, not only was he powerful enough in magic, but the Bones family's political and economic influence throughout Europe also made anyone think twice before provoking him.

After returning home, Lin An entered a vast room with a world map hanging in its center. He raised his wand, pointed it at the enormous map, and said softly, "Quirinus Quirrell."
