The debate centers on whether the person who was just teleported is dead or alive, and whether they're still the same person. The Phoenix Project is much the same. The Empire had similar debates, and everyone agreed that once the original soul was gone, the "new person" was someone else.

Some Arcanists could accept being reborn this way. After all, the new body would have all their memories, personality, and DNA. As for the soul? As long as a pure soul was used in the Resurrection, they could reshape it to make it as close as possible to the original.
