Jean Augustus Claude opened his eyes, feeling dazed. "That dream again," he grumbled. A potion appeared in his hand, and he swallowed it. To him, those events were long in the past, but he still remembered those years clearly.
Wizards had only just revealed themselves to the world. Before it had time to adjust, the Dementors invaded. Claude had been living in what was now Haiti, struggling to survive in a country whose resources the United States had plundered years earlier. As the Dementors devoured people's souls, those he knew began to fall into comas.
The most terrifying part of the experience was that he couldn't even see his enemies. So when the wizards began recruiting support staff, he signed up. Then, with the help of their magical technology, he saw those revolting creatures for the first time. From that moment on, he hated them with a vengeance.
After Queen Hermione completed the "Mage Project," Claude was found to have magical talent. He began his brilliant journey as an Arcanist.
He was exceptionally talented and progressed by leaps and bounds, but ever since his career began, he'd had the same dream. It had haunted him ever since. He'd even been forced to see a designated mental-affinity Arcanist, but still couldn't shake it.
Claude glanced at his watch, which had pulled him out of his meditation—the situation room needed him. He rose from his meditation cushion and left the room. He could have teleported there, but wanted to clear his head by walking around. That might have been a mistake.

Someone bumped into him, splashing food all over his gorgeous blue-and-red robe, which had palm-tree patterns on the cuffs.
A nameless rage flared in his chaotic mind, but he held it back. Being able to control one's emotions was a
