Fatima held the sobbing Lana in her arms. Despite her extraordinary talent and mature mind, no eight-year-old could easily accept the sudden death of her father. Although Fatima's heart ached, especially when Lana asked if she could resurrect her daddy, she gritted her teeth and indulged her daughter's request.
"Lana, do you want some ice cream?" Fatima asked. Lana nodded reluctantly.
"Come on, let's make ice cream ourselves like we used to." Fatima didn't use any powerful spells, nor did she summon ice cream from the Food Dimension. Instead, they gathered various ingredients and started from scratch, mixing them with basic magic to create all sorts of strange flavors.
When Lana mixed the "Frenzied Dream" flavor with the "Ice Volcano" flavor, Fatima scooped up a little of the ice cream she had made and smeared it on Lana's nose. "Mommy," Lana complained before splashing her milk at her. Fatima dodged, but that only got little Lana even more excited. A food fight broke out in the kitchen, sending crumbs flying everywhere.
The two of them had a wonderful time, after which Fatima took her daughter to have a bath. Again, they used no magic, doing everything in the most traditional way. Afterward, Fatima made Lana's favorite meal, stewed Lightning Rabbit, and put on her favorite cartoon. It was about an anthropomorphic rabbit traveling through different dimensions and going on countless adventures. In hindsight, Fatima realized that the Empire had been preparing its people for the Exploration Era through the media for many years.
Lana fell asleep while watching the show, and Fatima gently carried her to bed. Then she suddenly remembered something. "Kadija, why haven't the government's people arrived yet?"
"Madam, I've done everything I can to buy you as much time as possible. They should be here soon."
