Mars, Ares Detention Center:
"I have the right," Dr. Foster shouted, banging on the energy shield of her cell. Under normal circumstances, as long as she exerted all her strength, she could even punch through a planet, but in this place, she was weaker than ordinary people Old Era.
"I have the right to a lawyer and the right to contact my family," she continued. "Let me call." Dr. Foster lost his temper for more than a minute before a guard slowly walked forward. The guard entered a series of codes on the holographic panel on his wrist, thus transmitting the voice into the cell.
"You bastard. You--"
"You have a call from your family," the guard said calmly, and then pressed a few more buttons. A screen appeared in Dr. Foster's cell, and the guard turned and left without saying a word. Dr. Foster gritted her teeth and stared at his back, but the person on the screen quickly diverted her attention.
"Honey, you have to get me out of here."
"Are you fucking crazy?" said William Benson, a Seventh Tier Arcanist and CEO of Steelheart Company, the company contracted by the government to make the magic Crystal.
"Wha-what?"
"How many times have I told you that that woman is a tower master, and she can ruin our lives with just one word?" William shouted. "You told me that you would restrain yourself."
"I--I--I."
"What's wrong with you? Is it so difficult to control yourself?"
"Why do you side with that stupid woman?" Dr. Foster retorted. "What kind of tower master would believe in a fictional god? I never believe that there was no fraud in her tower master review."
William looked at his wife in horror. Now, this woman is actually questioning the tower owner's review. There are trillions of Arcanist, but there are less than a hundred tower owners - this review process is so strict.
"You are really crazy."
"I don't have time for your nonsense," Dr. Foster snapped. "Call your sister and ask my brother-in-law to investigate my arrest. I know he will understand."
"I can't believe I would marry someone as stupid as you," William sighed, stroking her earlobe.
"What did you say?"
"Do you know the consequences of what you did?" William asked. "Our company just received a memo from the government saying that there is a problem with our contract and we may need to renegotiate." William stared at his wife's blank expression.
"The contract was signed ten years ago and should still be valid for 40 years. Why did there suddenly be a problem?" Dr. Foster's face turned pale.
"If nothing else happens, I will be fired or demoted in order to appease the government's anger," William continued.
"No, that's impossible," Dr. Foster muttered. Magic Crystals were quickly becoming the main currency of exchange throughout the Star Plane, with millions of worlds using them for transactions. So many people wanted to enter this rapidly growing field, and Steelheart was lucky enough to be one of the few companies to receive an official contract.
"Do you think this is over?" William sneered. "My sister just called, screaming and threatening to kill me. Jacob was just called to a meeting: with such a stain on his resume, he now has no chance to obtain the elder seat."
"No, you're lying," Dr. Foster screamed. "Jacob is a Council senator - he is at the heart of the Empire's power." She scratched her scalp, nearly tearing her hair out.
"Core?" William sneered. Only those who are closely related to the Empire in Old Era can be called the core of the Empire. "How many times have I told you that in this era, politicians and the rich no longer hold power? Now, the real elite are scholars, scientists, engineers and innovators."
Dr. Foster was on the verge of mental collapse, so she almost didn't listen to these words.
"We had such a bright future," William sighed deeply and continued. "My sister and Jacob could ensure military power, I could ensure wealth, and your task is to become a powerful force. Together, we could have built a family legacy that thrives in this turbulent era. But no, you insist on ruining it all."
"It's not my fault, it's not my fault."
"For what? Envy?" William said through gritted teeth.
"Who would Envy that stupid woman?" Dr. Foster screamed.
"I don't have time to pay attention to your hysteria," William said, his attitude suddenly turned cold and frosty. "From now on, you can fend for yourself."
"What do you mean?"
"I want to divorce you. You will receive the divorce agreement after you are released," William said coldly.
"No, you can't do that."
"See if I dare."
Dr. Foster looked at him; her eyes suddenly became full of hatred and Wrath. "You damn bastard, I'm going to take you to court and take away everything you own."
"You can try," William chuckled. Under normal circumstances, divorce is a very serious matter - especially for senior Arcanists like them. There are usually lengthy procedures involving government intervention and property division. However, after Foster was accused, William had a way to speed up their divorce process and even retain most of their assets.
"You--" the screen went black, and Dr. Foster lost his temper again.
The rest of that night was uneventful except for someone from the Medical Security Department who came in person to apologize to Fatima. They also offered a substantial compensation. Fatima tried to inquire about her pending application at the Divination Department, but the government officials said that it belonged to a different department and was not their responsibility.
So, after today's work, Fatima went home. She used the hospital's Void Gate to teleport home. Her Mage Tower was not in Arcane City, but on Agyun Galaxy, a deserted planet used as a research base. This place contains the unique healing energy discovered by Fatima, which is of great benefit to the soul.
Once here, Fatima went through a thorough cleaning routine to ensure she didn't bring anything dangerous into the space.
She eliminated all bacteria, removed any traces or breath of energy, sealed most of her powers, used Light Magic to purify, used necromancy magic to obliterate any potential dangers, and even used Divination to make sure she didn't miss anything. The whole process took four hours, and she completed it all with extreme patience.
After everything was ready, Fatima walked into a room. A little girl about eight years old was suspended in mid-air, surrounded by a green shield. Fatima flew towards her slowly. She gently touched the little girl's face.
"Lana, baby, how are you today?" Fatima said in Arabic. For the next two hours, she spoke to her unconscious daughter as if she could hear her. Finally, she left to check her vital signs.
"It's 0.5% worse than yesterday," she muttered to herself, frowning. This ratio may seem insignificant, but this situation has been going on for decades. Lana is all Fatima, and watching her slowly die without being able to do anything almost drove Fatima crazy.
'Maybe I can stabilize her condition,' Fatima thought. After performing the surgery on Koa Ulilanu, she had some ideas on how to stabilize Lana's condition.
Fatima wasted no time. She used the Arcane Merit she received as compensation to purchase some rare and limited resources from the Empire. What she ordered arrived within minutes, and she immediately started her work.
